I felt like everyone was watching me as I walked into school. Not quite sure how gossip gets spread around here but it seemed like everyone was aware of Jakes and I rekindled friendship. I saw Landon and the rest of the crew by the senior lockers. Chrissy and Natalia were shooting daggers at me per usual. I smiled and waved and they rolled their eyes.
Landon laughed "They're just going to hate you more and more," I laughed "I really don't care if they do. Not my problem." I opened my locker and couldn't even get my books in before Landon slammed my locker door and gave me a knowing look. "What was that for?" I said annoyed. "Care to explain what happen between you and Jake?" he asked like a strict father.
In the midst of all my emotions, I happen to forget to tell Landon about Jakes and I conversation over the weekend. A little part of me didn't want to tell him, knowing that he would just give me a lecture about how Jake and I will never be able to be just friends. Landon has known us for a long time and unfortunately has been like our child, in the middle of all our chaos and drama. I think he was getting a bit tired dealing with our issues. I don't blame him.
"It's not a big deal Landon, we just talked and decided to not hate each other." Landon rolled his eyes "Mia, I really am going to love not having to be in the middle of your heated arguments, but just be careful okay?"
The second person telling me to be careful, you would think I decided to become friends with a murderer. "I'm actually really glad you guys decided to talk and hash things out, now we can all hang out together again. It's like mom and dad decided to get together again." Landon smiled.
"Be quiet!" I laughed. "We did decide to talk again for you too you know, I know it's been hard on you and I am really sorry." He sighed "You know I love you both, and I just want us to have peace. That's all I ever want. I hate to see you guys in pain." I smiled and gave him a tight hug. Landon has always been an amazing friend.
"There is just one thing I want to ask you." His tone changed into a serious one. Landon is rarely ever serious so this took me off guard. "What is it?" I asked.
"Can you guys just try to really stick to being friends-" my breath hitched. "If you're truly going to try to be friends then just be that? If you guys want something more then go for it. I'm just sick of the back and forth. Please" He looked me right in the eye. I knew he was being serious, I didn't know what to say.
"Landon, I-" I paused. We are going to be just friends, I know that but I can't predict the future. Saying okay would close the door on Jake and I ever having something more. Landon basically just said be friends or start dating and if we're friends then keep at that. After all the drama Jake and I have been though, I could honestly say I'm okay with just being friends.
"Landon, you have nothing to worry about. We're just friends. No more drama. I promise" Landon sighed in relief "Good, I'm glad we can all be friends again. I'm really glad your back Mia" he smiled. Just then the warning bell went off. "Me too".
School went the same like it usually does. Except everyone knew Jake and I were friends now. Considering I only told Raven, my best guess is that she told Aaron, who went and told Chrissy and Natalia and they bad mouthed me to everyone. Apparently I was trying "DESPERATELY" to break up Natalia and Jakes relationship. That was the rumor going around school today and since Jake wasn't at school today, I was the only one who had to deal with the cheerleaders side eyes.
I walked into my house expecting no one to be home yet but to my suprise I saw Jake and my mom in the kitchen laughing like they're the best of friends.
"Um Hi" I said startling them from their conversation. "Oh hi honey" My mom got up from the table and gave me a hug. "How was school?"
"School was school" I went into the fridge and grabbed a soda. "What are you doing here?" I asked Jake.
