Hank turned on his heels quickly and got to his office and shut the door right before the fosters made it up the last set of stairs. He quickly shut all the blinds so no one could see inside and the Fosters couldn't see Oliver from the outside. Their loud voices were enough to wake Oliver suddenly and fearfully from his sleep. When his eyes shot open the peaceful look was gone from him. It was all fear, pain and confusion. Hank sat down still holding him and kept Oliver tightly against his chest to give him a few moments to wake up and catch his breath.
"Hey hey hey, whoah woah, it's okay Oliver you're safe, you're in my office and they can't hurt you" hank said rubbing Oliver's back as his immediate panic faded slowly. Once Oliver was breathing slowly enough Hank let him sit up before explaining what was going to happen next,
"Okay Oliver, I'm going to have my friend detective Burgess ask you a couple questions in another room for a few minutes and she'll bring you back here to wait for your social worker okay?" Oliver nodded sadly, keeping the blanket around his face so only his eyes were seen. He looked down with the same solemn expression and extended his his hands out with the blanket to hank expecting he had to give it back. Hank took it back but only wrap it back around him. Oliver looked up in surprise to see hank was smiling,
"You can keep it if you want" he said. Oliver smiled back for the first time that night.
"Thank you Mr. Hank" he said grabbing onto the blanket eagerly.
"No problem Ollie" Hank said with his smile only growing on his face. But that moment was disrupted when a stiff knocking mame from his door with a voice,
"Sarge we're home and ready for you." It was the voice of Antonio, one of the people on Hank's team. Hank got up and opened the door to a tall and well built man with slicked back black hair, daring brown eyes and a clean shaved face accompanied by two small earrings. Two leather holsters strapped to his shoulders made his chest seem larger solid.
"Burgess is in room four?" Hank asked.
"Yeah and Jay's waiting for you in Mary Foster's room. But be warned she's been screaming like a freakin' banchy the moment we put her in cuffs. I'd say bring in ear plugs but that's just my suggestion on keeping your eardrums and sanity" Antonio warned.
"We'll take care of her. Take care of the finalizing of their casefile and criminal record. I'll bring oliver to burgess then go handle the creature."
"Yes sir" Antonio agreed, walking back to his desk in the large room while Hank stepped back inside his office and shut the door behind him where oliver sat listening and waiting.
"You ready Oliver? This may be the toughest part yet I'm going to be honest. But my friend Burgess wants to help just like I do okay?" Oliver nodded pulling the blanket tighter around him.
"The worst is over. You'll never have to see those bad people again I promise. You'll live somewhere better better with better people and have a better life. So let's get this over with" Hank said softly holding his hand out to oliver from the door. Oliver pushed himself off the couch and hobbled over to hank, part of the blanket dragging on the floor behind him. Hank picked up the blanket and put it around Oliver's shoulders before taking his hand. Hank lead him to a blank room with only two chairs, a table, and mirror. The woman who met him had brown hair, a small figure but a gentle face. She smiled brightly and waved from the table she was sitting at, getting up to greet him.
"Hi Oliver! My name is Detective Burgess but you can call me Kim" she said bending down to shake his hand. Oliver leaned closer to hank, holding his hand tighter and shamefully looking at his feet.
"It's okay if you're not comfortable. All I want is to talk okay? And we can take a break whenever you want" Kim's voice was sweet and soft which brought Oliver out of his shell enough to look at her and nod. Letting go of Hank's hand and letting her lead him to the table. Oliver looked back at hank with fearful hesitation but Hank gave him a small smile and wave which gave him a little more confidence. But as he waved back dread and fear filled him and all he could do was watch Hank disappear and the door shut.
