The thunder let out a low grumble in the cold night sky, causing you to shoot further down your bed. A small screech left your lips as you gripped the blanket tighter, your eyes squeezing shut. Why did it have to happen tonight? The one night you decided to stay at your own house instead of your boyfriends.

In summary, you had astraphobia; fear of thunder and lighting. It came on reasonably hard and fast when you were around 10-12, simply worsening as the years went on. Thunder and lightning would send you spiraling down the rabbit hole of fear and panic attacks, so you usually had someone with you after it would be forecasted on the news. But today, it was unexpected.

You reached up a shaking hand to grab your phone, only retracting it back under the covers when lighting cracked once again outside your house. Tears streamed down your face and your breath quickened as the thunder rumbled a short time later. Quickly, you grabbed the phone and held it to your chest as you regained your composure.

You went as fast as you could to unlock your phone and go into iMessages. You tried your best to see through your blurred vision, making you continuously dry your eyes. Going into your boyfriends contact, you messaged him in hopes that he would wake up and come to you.

"Seb, please. Thunder and lightning." You wrote, pressing send. As if on cue, there was another set of lightning and thunder, making you scream and almost throw your phone across the room. Almost immediately after, a reply popped up.

"Already on my way, baby. See you soon."

You let out a short breath of relief, knowing that he was going to come and be able to sort all of your nerves. Just the thought of his arms around you and protecting you made you feel safe and happier- until thunder struck again.
