"My lord! My lord!" Came the three echoed shrill cries of flittering orbs of light as they buzz around kagemura's office.

Takes the time to look up from his paperwork and acknowledge hid disruptors. "You all know better than to just barge into my workspace unannounced. though seeing how riled up you lot our it must be important. what is it then?"

"Come listen! Yes listen! Such a wonder!"

Flying in harmony, the orbs chase each other towards the entrance of the office and come back now guiding a giggling Métis as she waddles into the office seconds later, following the shiny colorful fairies. "The young one my lord! She spoke she did! You must hear her words!"

All anger of being disturbed disappears from Kagemura upon seeing his daughter. She alone held the power to cease his unforgiving rage. He leans over his desk to get a better look at his child. " Is this true little one? Have you words for Otōsan?"

The fairies help to lift the young princess onto their lord's desk and remove her pacifier. "Go on! You can do it! Just like before!"

Everyone waits in silence to see what the child would do. For a moment it seems they were more interested in the many objects on the desk. Even nibbling on their hand before actually saying anything.

"baffh aah. ooo."

Kagemura sighs disappointed. He somewhat expected this. Incoherent noise and sounds, but never actual words. How nice it would be to hear his precious Hime call out to him. Such things could not be rushed.

"My lord she really did speak! Honest! Honest! We would not lie! Never! Not to you my lord!" Frantically they fly about worried that this failed accusation would anger the lord.

"Maybe so. It does not matter. She is still very young and will speak when she is ready. Isn't that right Hime?"

Giggles fill the room when he pokes Métis's tummy with his finger, mindful of his claws. She claps and reaches out to grab the retreating digit to hold in her tiny hands before it goes too far, looks up at him with big shiny eyes and a slightly drool ridden smile.

"Umff baba aahda..da-da."

...

"There! She said it again! My lord did you hear! See now my lord! We did not lie!"

"Aah eeheh."

Dumbfounded from what he's heard Kagemura composure falters. "W-what did you say? Little one, that word, what did you say?"

As if understanding his request she speaks again. "Da-daada. Da da da da da da da daaaadaaa."

He Laughs wetly. "Yes, yes! That's right! Otōsan! I'm your father!"

"DAADA eeah!"

Scooping up his daughter into a hug, tears threatening to fall. It was his first time hearing her call out to him, to acknowledge who he was to her. Kagemura knew what it meant to be a parent but this moment seemed to solidify his title.

Métis mimics his action for a hug. "Daada. Dada daada."

"My precious one. Forever and always you can call on Otōsan. No matter where you are no matter how far you go, papa will be there."
