FIRST PERSON

i swirled around the small amount of alcohol in my red plastic cup, leaned against a wall observing the party. then, grayson comes up to me and tells me to play truth or dare with a bunch of people. i didn't want to play, but i kinda was forced to by everyone there.

ten minutes into the game, i kept seeing this girl eyeing me, looking me up and down.

"okay, ethan, truth or dare?" one of the guys said. i think his name was kyle.

"dare." i say. a smirk crept up on kyle's face, he obviously saw me and that girl staring at each other.

"i dare you to do seven minutes in heaven with y/n." he nodded over to, apparently, y/n.

"my pleasure." i said sarcastically. we both got up and i followed her into the walk in closet in the room.

the whole house was dimly lit, so i couldn't really see too much of her face until now. she turned on the light and looked up at me, her chest inches away from mine. she had these beautiful amber eyes, and i couldn't take my eyes off of them.

"um, ethan, right?" she asked.

"yeah, and you're y/n." i said more as a statement than a question. she hummed in response and smiled lightly at me.

"so... who did you come with?" she asked, playing with her fingers.

"my brother," i chuckled and she smiled back.

"you?" i was a little scared for the answer.

"just a few of my friends, they wanted me to take my mind off of my breakup that happened the other day," her voice faded as she went on and we sat on the floor. she put her knees up to her chest and let out a sigh of defeat.

"oh, sorry. didn't mean to-" i nervously blurted out.

"no, no. it's okay. i mean i think it's kind of sweet since you don't seem to be the typical fuckboy that's trying to get in every girls' pants." she giggled, making me grin and giggle back.

after our laugher died down, she scooted closer to me and put her head on my shoulder. i looked down at her and she concentrated on the blue bracelet on my wrist.

"what does your bracelet say?" she mumbled. i swallowed the lump in my throat and started playing with the plastic rubber band.

"it's a uh... cancer awareness bracelet. my dad had cancer and passed a few weeks ago..." i looked down, trying not to break down in front of this girl.

"oh, i'm so sorry. my mom actually passed because of cancer, too, when i was twelve." i watched as the sadness filled her once sparkling brown orbs, turning them less vibrant and loosing their shine.

she cleared her throat and pushed a piece of hair behind her ear.

"well, on the brighter side, i heard that you and grayson are youtube famous- what's that like?" she gave me a small smile and my face turned red thinking about all the videos i made a fool of myself in.

"y-you've seen our videos?" i stuttered. 'why did you stutter, jackass? now you seem even more vulnerable.'

"yeah, i've watched a couple... i thought the one when you got your wisdom teeth out was pretty funny." she laughed and i covered my face with my hands, shaking my head back and forth.

"oh god, this is so embarrassing. you really saw that video?" i laughed.

"don't worry, i think you're gonna get a girlfriend soon." she winked, referring to when i said that i was gonna be alone forever. i blushed a little.

"hey! times up!" someone yelled from the other side of the door. we both stood up and she put her hand through her hair.

"well, this was pretty fun." i said, putting my hands in my pockets. i lied, it was the most fun i'd had all night.

"yeah, i had a good time." she chuckled.

we just looked at each other without speaking. out of no where she pulled my shirt collar closer for a quick kiss and slipped me a little note, catching me off guard.

she walked out into the room where the rest of the group was and i walked out after. grayson rushed up to me.

"dude, how was it? you look kinda beat, to be honest." he chuckled and i looked at myself in the mirror. my lips had some of y/n's gloss on them and my shirt collar was all messed up, making it look like we "did a lot" in there. i smiled to myself and gripped the note tighter.

"i mean, she was definitely fun."
