I glided smoothly out of the lot, wheels spinning. Hey, it may be 2890, but there were are still no flying vehicles. We weren't getting those anytime soon, especially not with all the efforts going to medicine and other biological sciences these days. There were literally only five hundred or so engineers left in West America, most having emigrated to East America after the West revealed its true intentions about what it wanted most its population to be.

Leaning back, one hand on the handles, I relaxed and let the wind try to pull me off the bike. Not the most comfortable to some, but to me it was like a battle. A war, even. It was doubly harder now that the snow was really coming down. After fifteen minutes of smooth riding, snow whacking my face, and being freezing, I pulled into the lot of the library. I parked and launched myself up the stairs. Nearing the top, I slowed down my pace to a leisurely walk. The crystal double doors opened upon facial recognition, so I stood shivering outside in the negative weather until a gust of warm air hit my face. "Oh lookie here. You finally made it." Micah simpered.

"Don't judge me I was getting tea."

"For an hour?"

"The line was long."

"In that small shop?"

"Okay, fine. The snow got to me."

"You love the snow, and it's never, and I mean NEVER, a nuisance to you."

"I- uh? Manager? Yelled at? Barista was nice? Pink mustache?"

"What?"

"Nevermind, let's just study." My face heated up at my inability to form comprehensive thoughts, lies, or words under direct person to person pressure. "Awww," Micah teased, "Feeling a little flustered?"

"N-no..."

"Y-yes..." he said, mocking my stutter. We reached our study room, scanned our IDs and entered.

"O-okay. Fine. I am most definitely flustered... okay?" I managed once we were settled. "But," I added with a sly grin, "This is nowhere even remotely near what you would have been like if you were asked to introduce yourself to a new person."

"Sh-shut up!" He replied. I smacked his arm playfully. "I thought so. Let's get to work."

I stared at the clock's ticking hands as I folded a crane. I had finished my work a long time ago, but Micah just needed to have some alone time to read. For two hours. Straight. "Hey Micah."

"Hmm?" He replied, barely even looking up from the book. "I'm gonna go check out the SciFi instead of just sitting here."

"Well why didn't you go earlier?"

"I was folding origami."

"Sure."

"Um, yeah. Check around you." I gestured to the piles upon piles of folded paper that sat on the ground and tumbled around the table legs. "Didya make a thousand?" he absentmindedly asked.

"No."

"Then you won't have good health." He went back to reading. "Okay then? Bye." I opened the door and snapped it closed after walking out. The library was silent, with the exception of the rustling pages. I made my way to the science fiction section, weaving in between the books and articles that had fallen to the ground. Twice, I stooped to pick up a fallen manuscript that looked too fragile to remain on the ground. Finally, after what seemed like countless stops to peer at interesting titles to boring books, I reached the SciFi section. A giant mess of graphic novels, actual novels, comics, and so much more. Huh. Now that I think about it, this would probably be my last time reading for pleasure until I finished studying at the Academia. Shrugging, I bent to take a better look at a title. "ARGH!" the silence of the library was ruined as I was knocked over from my precarious half-folded perch by another person. "Oh sorry," the figure said, "I didn't see you there."
