"I, uh, needed to study a bit...?" Mark said, face flushing crimson.

"Are you sure?" Micah cocked his eyebrow, "Because the face shows different."

He muttered something incomprehensibly. "What?" I asked him. He covered his face with his hands. "Is he okay?" "ImayormaynotbefailingrightnowandIwon'tbeabletomakeittotheAcedamiaifIdontbringupmygraderealsoonandIkindawantedtomeetMicahbecauseKaedewasalwaystalkingabouthimandmaybeIalsowantedtoseeKaede?Idunnobut-"

"Woah, woah, hold your horses. Can you repeat that slower?" I said. He shook his head and flipped his hoodie over his face, scrunching the ropes to hide it. "You okay dude?" Typical Micah. Always trying to help someone no matter how long he's known them. Could get him robbed or worse on the streets. Mark was still standing with his hands over his hooded face, and Micah was just awkwardly standing there. I decided that it was probably time to see what was up with Mark.

"Hey. HEY." I shook Mark. He didn't look up. "DUDE. DUDE WITH HOODIE." He finally glanced up for a second before shrinking back into Hoodieville. Good. I probably had his attention? I decided to speak to him anyways. "Bro, it's fine. I couldn't understand what you said, but no matter what it is we'll support you. Even Micah, who met you legitimately five minutes ago." He remained silent. "You can speak to us, okay? I'll be catching a ride to the dorms with Micah, since my implant broke and I can't see shi- Stuff." I started packing.

"I'm going to fail." a muffled voice said.

"What?"

"I'm going to fail and have to labour in the Flats. I'm never going to become an engineer. I'm going to have to move away from my family just to chase after some stupid dream. I-" He stopped mid sentence and whispered, "I'm sorry for bothering you with my problems. You have enough already. I'll leave you now." He abruptly walked out, flannel waving behind. "Oookay?"

"Huh. He seemed cool? Maybe just existential crisis?"

"I don't think so? Dude, I would go after him but I still can't see. Maybe if I just-" All of the sudden my vision cleared. "What the-?"

"What happened?"

"My... implant just fixed? I can see now?" Micah stood stock still. "Hey," he murmured, "Don't you think it's kind of strange that Professor Calia and Mark both kinda you know-" he gestured with his hands, "-stopped speaking kinda quickly and walked away?"

"No? Maybe they just, uh, didn't have words?"

"But then what about your vision clouding as soon as you saw this 'Micheal' guy but then clearing up directly after Mark leaves?"

"I don't understand-" Micah seemed to grow more and more frightened as he spoke, "What if... this isn't all a coincidence and-" For a third time, someone is cut off abruptly. But, instead of talking or walking out after, he just stares. Stares into the wall. I wave my hands across his face. "Hello?"

"ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!" With a bloodcurdling scream, Micah slumps to the floor, unconscious or dead I can't tell.
