By lunch that day Laney could tell something was off with Bucky. "Bucky honey are you mad at me?' Laney said
"No.." he said
"Well something is wrong? You have been in a gloomy mood all day." she said
"It's only lunch Laney." he said
"Well all morning you have been in a sour puss mood.' she said
"I'm just not in a good mood okay.. just let it go." he said
"Buck talk to me what's the matter?' she said
"Nothing Laney god.. I don't have to talk to you about everything." he said
"But I bet if Caroline asked you. You would tell her." Laney said
Caroline looked up from her food when she heard her name. "Laney please for the love of God just leave me the fuck alone I'm not in the fucking mood okay." he said as he stormed off.
Brody said "are you gonna go talk to him?'
"No.. whatever it is, is between them." she said
"Caroline are you sick?' Brody said
"No." she said
'Then why aren't you chasing after him." Brody said
"Because I don't have to go coddle him he needs to cool off." she said
After school after cheer practice Laney walked over to Bucky and said "Have you cooled off?'
"I want to break up Laney." he said
"What?' she said
"I want to break up with you. I don't want to be together anymore." he said
Caroline walked out of the locker room right when he said that and she stopped.
"Why Buck." Laney said with tears in her eyes.
"I just need to okay.. I'm sorry Laney." he said as he picked up his basketball bag and left the gym.
Caroline walked out to her sister's car and they went home. By the next day everyone heard about the break up between Laney and Bucky. Brody came up to Caroline and said "What happened between Bucky and Laney?'
"I don't know I heard him do it after cheer practice so who knows. He didn't tell me anything." she said as they walked to class and Bucky didn't show up at school that day either. He drove his truck out to his grandma's house and helped her around the house cause he didn't feel like going to school and ended up spending the night at her house.
