I got to school earlier than usual. Most of my classmates asked about my absence yesterday so I told them I got sick. I also inform our trainor that I need to rest until Saturday tomorrow and I'm glad he's okay with it.
I attended my classes as usual. Lhem updated me of the topics yesterday so it was easier for me to catch up.
9am class, Our teacher in biology gave us a project relating to cells which will be submitted Tuesday nextweek. She explained that we will do this in pair. After explaining the project, she proceeded to call the names of every pair. I waited until I heard my name.
"Cassidy." she mentioned so i stand up
"Call my name.. Call my name pls." Lehm whispered next to me making me laugh
"Cassidy, you'll be paired with Hayes." our teacher presumed
My eyes automatically landed to Mariah. She smiled to me making me nod. I sat down and heard Lehm groan.
"We're not in the same group." he whined
As if our teacher heard him, he called his name and was partnered with MJ.
He lit up knowing its MJ coz she's also our best friend.
"Now I'm jealous." I commented looking at them both
"Don't be. You got the hottest girl in class. You should be thankful." MJ replied making Lehm burst out of laughter
"I'm more glad she's smart."I retorted making them nod in agreement
...
After our biology class, here goes the English class.. Wow, the excitement really. Note the sarcasm.
I was out of my thoughts when Mariah walked by my side.
"So about the project, do you have any idea in mind what would our theme be? " she asked as we walk our way to Juno's room
"I actually have no Idea right now. " I replied a bit distracted as her room became more visible
"Let's talk later then at the cafeteria." she said not leaving my side
I hummed in agreement and saw Juno at the door greeting the students. Wow, she's early.
Our eyes met causing a jolt of electricity run though my body.
"Cassidy, Hayes, Goodmorning." She greets us
"Goodmorning Miss." we both said as I look at the ground
I reached my desk and didn't found Lhem. I was confused because I was behind them when we got out of biology. I felt a tap from my back and realized it was Mariah.
"Lehm said we should switch our seats." she explained gesturing at Lhem who's on her seat
Lhem gave this teasing smirk of him signalling something on the door. I glanced at the door and saw Juno's death stare. I quickly averted my gaze and occupied my seat immediately. Mariah eventually puts down her bag then sat beside me.
I eyed Lehm sending her my dagger look.
He mouth sorry and points her fingers to MJ signalling that they're planning their project. I rolled my eyes a bit annoyed and focus my attention to the board. Great, I hope Juno doesn't think anything about this.
The bell rang and Juno started the class. She never made any eye contact with me the whole time. As if time passed quickly, the bell rings again signalling for the end of class.
"Cassidy, can you stay. " she mentioned startling me
I thought we'll gonna avoid each other from now on?
I slowly packed my things. I can't deny how excited I am to talk to her. Even after all that, I still miss her.
Everyone walks out except for me and Mariah.
"Just wait for me at the cafeteria." I muttered standing up
"Nah, I'll wait for you here. " she replied not moving on her seat
I nodded hiding my disappointment then proceeds to the desk infront of Juno.
"Yes Miss." I voiced out
Juno eyed Mariah before meeting my eyes. Her face is saying a lot but she didn't mutter a single word.
She handed me some papers and gestures that i can now go out. I scanned the papers and realized that it was the lesson yesterday.
"Thank you Miss. " I voiced out
She nodded and glanced at Mariah's direction.
"Umm. Mariah and I are working on a project for Biology." I whispered knowing Mariah can't see my face and she's in the rearside so she will not hear it
"I didn't ask anything. " Juno replied
"I know that. Just to be clear, there's nothing going on between us. " I added making her flinch
"Again, I didnt ask about that. " she commented scanning the load of papers on her table
"I just wanted you to know. " I voiced out
I looked back to Mariah gesturing for us to go.
I saw a glimpse of smile from Juno as we walk out of her room. It also made me smile. I wish we can still talk through phone, but everything's different now.
...
"What were you both talking about earlier?" Mariah asked as we eat our lunch
"Who? " I asked acting baffled
"Miss Reinhart." She stated as if it was obvious
Lehm turned her face at me still chewing his food. Great, why are we three sharing a table?
"Oh nothing. She gave me a copy of the lesson yesterday, that's about it." I explained
"Then why do you need to talk so quietly?" she asked as if I'm hiding something
Well, I am, but it's none of her business right?
"Ow.. umm.. She asked me if I'm really sick yesterday or just skipped school. That's all. " I explained as I eat my food a bit faster
Mariah hummed a bit suspicious but I'm glad she didn't bother me after that. Lehm on the other side eyed us both as if she's watching a drama.
As if the awkwardness of the topic is not enough, Juno and some teachers sat to the table next to us. Now I can't swallow my food properly.
I can sense Mariah is observing us so I tried my best not to falter. Lehm noticed the atmosphere so he started to ask about our project.
"Have you too decided your project? " he asked
"I'm out of Idea." I replied stepping on his foot to thank him
"I'm thinking of something related to music. " Mariah replied as Lehm got her attention
I glance at Juno who's already looking at us. I smiled at her warmly, and her face formed a cute smile showing her dimples.
So much for avoiding each other.
