Don't worry, I'll keep this short. I know not everyone who stumbles upon this knows what My Hero Academia or its partner series Vigilantes is, but that's the universe this is set in. In MHA humans have evolved to have superhuman abilities called Quirks. Thanks to these quirks all of society kinda lost its grip for a bit until governments stepped in and took control, creating two opposing forces: Heroes and Villains. Heroes save you from everything from assault to terrorist attacks, and are paid to do so by the government. The manga doesn't specify too much else, so I'm keeping as canon as I can while still having fun writing. Anyways, I had/am having fun writing, so I hope you enjoy it! This part is mainly for those who don't read the My Hero Academia manga/Anime and will be updated as questions and concerns are raised, so check back in every now and again! There may be spoilers or major plot points revealed so take that into account while reading. Thanks for reading and have a glorious day!
Edit: Hey! I know there's a lot of build up, but you can skip to part 11 if you don't wanna read about American heroes or wanna see more canon character interactions!
Quirk: A special, superhuman ability an individual can possess. Quirks are generally unique to their user, and are classified in multiple categories: Emitter ( can either release certain substances, or alter materials around them in certain ways. Emitter-type Quirks usually require a conscious effort to activate, and some even require large amounts of concentration in order for them to remain active), Transformation (cause the user to take on a temporary alteration of some kind. Transformation-type Quirks allow the user to temporarily "transform" their body in a variety of manners, sometimes enhancing existing features or perhaps adding new features to the body altogether. Transformation-type Quirks generally affect the user exclusively, the only known exception being the Meatball Quirk.), or Mutation (can have a wide variety of features and abilities depending on the individual, but the common similarity seems to be that these Quirks are a part of the user's physicality, causing the user to exhibit irregular bodily features that generally have some sort of purpose to them. As a result, Mutant Quirks are passively active and, at a glance, are the most identifiable).
Humans with quirks are a more evolved or streamlined version of humans, and have only one joint in the pinky toes of their feet.
Quirks come in many shapes and sizes, including mutation quirks, that effect the appearance of the quirk holder. Sometimes people have horns, or extra appendages, or are made of another material altogether (like stone or gas), and most times, the less human you look, the more you're perceived to be a villain, or villain like.
