The next morning started not much later when Miso decided it was time to eat. I went to grab her bag of food and quickly realized it was empty, so I threw some clothes on and headed downstairs. I stopped just short of the door with Uncle Tai's words ringing in my head about rebuilding their trust, so I looked around for Tamaki before realizing that he must've still been asleep. Miso was getting more irritable by the moment, and I was rethinking my life choices when it came to pampering her so much before thinking that they might have something I can make her in the kitchen. Sure enough, it was fully stocked with tons of fresh ingredients, so I decided to cook her an egg to tide her over until I got her some real food. I fried it and placed it on the floor. "Remember, it's hot so you gotta wait for it to cool, okay?" She gave me an understanding trill and rubbed on my legs to show thanks before sitting to watch her egg. I made myself one as well and sat on the floor to eat with her. I couldn't find anything but chopsticks, and I wasn't awake enough to figure those out, so I just picked the egg up and shoved it in my mouth, like an animal.
"Couldn't find the utensils, huh? They're to the right of the stove," Uncle Tai came in with Tamaki trailing behind him. He opened the fridge and pulled out a green bottle. He offered one to me and I declined politely. "Well now that you're awake, there's a couple of things you need to do today, alright?" He handed Tamaki one of the green bottles, "The shops don't open for another few hours, so you should be able to do most of it before you go exploring, alright dear?" He pulled a paper list out of his pocket and handed it to me before ruffling my already messy hair. I scanned over it and saw that it was mostly training exercises and things I planned to do anyway like sign the last of my government transferral sheets and explore the surrounding area, but he also wanted me to try to find an apartment for myself today.
"Now, this is just my list. I'm sure that Sir's got things he'll need you to do too, but he doesn't get you until this afternoon. I need to go to a mission meeting today, but I'll have my phone on me and Tamaki will be here with you if you need anything. Ooh! And don't forget, it's Golden Week, so you need to make sure to stay with him if you two leave. Once you're done you can use my bathroom if you want to bathe. Its got the big bathtub so you can wash your wings off," He flapped his arms a little before pretending to fly back into his office. I looked at Tamaki, who was absorbed in petting my brat cat and decided that as long as she was preoccupied I could get ready for the day.
I washed up and got dressed, throwing on a fireproof sports bra and shorts to train in, and headed back downstairs to the object of my cat's affection. We headed to the agency's gym and started working on warmups and weights. Afterwards, I tried to fight Amajiki, but he said he didn't feel like it and headed to the wall, so I practiced on the sandbags instead. I cycled through my gasses and practiced lighting on fire and cooling off like normal, and finished up that part of the list fairly quickly. Up next was to bathe and head out.
I hadn't been alone in the bathroom during a bath for years, even when I lived alone with Octavius. We would shower or bathe together so he could make sure I didn't hurt get hurt or anything. It's been a long while since I'd last hurt myself, but he just wanted to be safe. The tub was bigger than I'd expected, even with the way Uncle Tai explained it. It was like a shallow pool with a little waterfall to fill it. I turned on my music and sat under the waterfall for quite some time, only realizing how long I'd been in there when Tamaki knocked and asked if I was alright. I said I was and he asked me if I could prove I was okay, so I sang for him. After about an hour of sitting and singing, I finally decided it was time to get up and get dressed. We said bye to Miso and headed towards the local shops. I picked up Miso's food and some snacks, and we stopped at a park to sit down for lunch and look at listings for apartments.
I opened up my sandwich and started scrolling through my phone, reading out the listings that sounded interesting, watching the boy next to me to see if he thought any were worthwhile or not. After I ran through three listing sites and still hadn't come up with anything, I huffed out that there wasn't one that checked all the boxes of things I needed like big doors or not being halfway between my agencies. Tamaki muttered that "If you don't like any of the apartments or houses here, you should just build one," and bit into some kind of bun. I looked over to him and realized he was staring intently at the ground, but it made sense, so I looked up land for sale, and it turned out there was a type of victor's village not too far from Tokyo. It was expensive, but not out of my price range, and I'd have to get a ton more people into this than I'd thought, but it was almost halfway between Sir's and Tai's agencies. I called the site number and they said they could meet in twenty minutes. Tamaki said we wouldn't make it in time even if we left now. The park around us was pretty spacious, and there weren't many people there, let alone any heroes that I could see, so I asked my babysitter if he was afraid of heights. He told me he wasn't, so I asked him if I could carry him and after he reluctantly agreed we took off.
