Chapter 1

Two days later

Davina was still out, so I decided to read out something from my studies out loud to her, in hopes that it would wake her up.

I had been reading out loud for 30 minutes when I heard a voice say, "Why the hell are you reading me that boring shit? You could at least make the reading material interesting by reading a sex scene or better yet.....tell me what you would do to me.... sexually."

I froze, thinking I had imagined it. I slowly lifted my eyes from my book and slowly turned my head towards the voice. I looked at Davina and her eyes were open, she was smirking.

I quickly got up from my chair, letting my book fall from my lap and onto the floor, I leaned over her and planted a passionate kiss on her lips.

Once we pulled away from the kiss I started rambling. "Thank god you are awake! I have no idea what I would do if you had died! That bullet should have been for me, not you! I've been so worried that you wouldn't make it...."

"Shh, shhh. It's okay, i'm awake now." She said pulling me by the shirt and giving me a gentle kiss.

I rested my forehead on hers and sighed with relief.

"I am not dreaming am I?" I asked.

It was a rhetorical question but Davina decided to answer it anyways by pinching me!

"Ouch! What was that for?"

"You asked if you were dreaming, I decided to give you the appropriate answer."

"It was a rhetorical question!"

"Oh, it was? I had no idea!" She replied with a giggle.

No idea my ass! I thought.

"Right, well I'll go inform your doctor and parents that you are awake." I gave her a kiss on her forehead and walked out of her room.

On the way to informing a nurse to get her doctor, I ran into her father and mother.

"She is awake!" I told them.

They took off running towards her room while I quickly found a nurse for her to tell Doctor Kelly that Davina was awake.

I quickly ran back towards Davina room but stayed out so that her parents could have some time with her.

I decided to stay out of Davina's room for an hour, even when Dr. Kelly had left Davina's room 45 minutes ago, I wanted her parents to spend time with her before I started taking up all her time by helping her heal.

Maxwell came out of her room.

"She wants to see you and maybe you can talk some sense into her while you are at it."

"What's wrong?"

"She is pretty much hell-bent on getting out of bed, even though the doctor said she should stay put for a few more days."

"What is the hurry?"

"She wants to make sure that the Miss who shot her gets what's coming to her, basically revenge."

"I'm not sure what I can do to convince her to behave herself but I can try," I said as I walked into Davina's room.

"We'll leave you two alone. Your father and I will go get you something to eat." Mrs. Brooks said.

"Not the hospital food, please! It's disgusting!" Davina said.

I chuckled.

"No Honey, we'll get you a burger and fries?"
