Chapter 21

Three days later

I was cleaning up mine and Declan's place because Davina would be over at any minute. I wanted to make sure that there was no dirt on the floor and nothing that Davina shouldn't see. She was also staying the night.

She had messaged me last night and said that she was able to come over and stay the night. I also told Natalie about what actually happened between Davina and the shooting but it was only because I had a really bad dream and I had talked in my sleep really loudly. That was what Natalie had said anyways.

Something surprising happened when I told Natalie what happened and how I had nightmares ever since it happened. She actually hugged me and got emotional. We actually have not bickered or picked on each other the past three days, she was actually being nice.

I did ask Natalie not to tell mom because I did not want mom to worry.

Natalie asked when I was testifying and when court would resume, she said she wanted to show her support.

Before I left earlier I asked mom for a simple recipe so that I could cook for Davina again. She had written down on a piece of paper a recipe to make meatloaf. I decided to make a salad to go on the side because I knew Davina liked to eat mostly salads.

I was cooking the ground meat now but only until it was all in pieces so that way it wouldn't take so long to make the meatloaf later. While I was chipping off some of the cooked ground meat there was a knock at the door.

I walked to it and opened it up, it was Davina with an overnight bag.

She came in and I shut the door behind her. I quickly pulled her to me and gave her a kiss.

"I've missed you," I said once we pulled away from the kiss.

"Missed you too. What are you doing over there?" She pointed to the pan.

"Cooking the ground meat."

"What are you making?"

"Meatloaf."

"You know you are supposed to not cook the ground meat yet right?"

"Yes I know I figured cooking most of it now would be easier when I finally made the meatloaf."

"Smart but next time you want the ground meat to soften just put it on a plate and defrost it in the microwave."

"Thanks for the tip. By the way, after when I get the ground meat to soften I got to go to the store to pick something up for the salad I'm making."

"I'll come with."

Davina took off her jacket and made herself at home by sitting on the couch and picking up the remote to turn the TV on.

After when most of the ground meat was unfrozen, I turned off the burner and placed the frying pan on a burner that wasn't on. Davina and I then got dressed and got into my car where I drove to a store to pick up lettuce, onion, strawberries, yellow bell pepper sliced almonds. We also had to go to the mall so that I could buy a loaf pan because Declan and I didn't have one.

Once we got back from the store Davina was still giggling at what happened.

"Oh come on! It wasn't that funny?"

"Everyone staring at you when you crashed the shopping cart into a shelf and all you could say was 'I meant to do that' was pretty funny!"

"I'll probably get kicked out if I ever go to the store again!"

"HeHeHe."

"Shall I assemble the meatloaf right now or wait?"

"You can do it now but remember if you are not going to cook it right away put it in the fridge."
