A week later

I was right when I told Davina last week that Declan was going to through a party for me.

I had taken a big mouthful of rum that was in my glass. It was then I noticed a group of girls from across the room smiling at me and giggling amongst themselves. What once amused me and made me feel good about how I looked suddenly didn't appeal to me.

In the past, I would be brazen enough to go over there put my arms around two of them so that I was in the middle and use what I now consider to be a lame pick up line seeing who would take a bite. Now? I would much rather they place their attention elsewhere.

So instead of mingling with females there was this guy I go to class with at Columbia and he was sitting the couch, so I decided to make conversation with him I need to apologize for something I did while Davina was unconscious.

I sat down beside him.

"I know you probably don't want to talk to me and that is perfectly understandable but I need to apologize for being a dick the last time I spoke to you. I'm sorry for flying off the handle like that, I was going through something....." I took a deep breath before I continued. "My girlfriend was recently shot and she was unconscious for a few days...I was worried about losing her, I know that is no excuse so I truly am sorry. I'll leave you alone now." I said as I got up from the couch.

"You are forgiven. You don't have to go." He said.

I breathe a sigh of relief and sat back down.

"Thank you, you didn't have to forgive me so easily."

"Your roommate told me the reason why you acted the way you did. Since you were man enough to apologize I thought I'd let you off the hook so you are welcome." He grinned at me.

I chuckled.

"How is your girlfriend?"

"She is great! She got the stitches out last week and is now back at work, enjoying bossing her employees around."

He laughed but then asked, "Ummm employees? Isn't she a little young to be in charge of a company?"

I totally forgot to mention she was older than I.

"Not at all, she is slightly older than I, already graduated from university already."

"What does she do? I don't mean to be noisy, just making conversation."

"Have you read anything from NY-Buzz?"

"Yes!"

"Heard of the name Davina Jordan?"

His eyes went wide.

"Are you implying you are dating the head writer and co-founder of NY-Buzz?"

I grinned and nodded.

"If you want proof I got a few pictures of us, not many because she doesn't like her picture taken for some reason."

"I'll take your word for it but I still like some proof!"

I took out my phone from my pants pocket and looked through photos until I found my favorite one of her. It was before the shooting and before I started university. We had taken a walk at a park, she had picked up a flower and I asked her pose for it. She was very photogenic in this picture that it almost looked fake! But I took the picture so I knew it wasn't.

I showed Brody the picture.

"Wow, she is beautiful. Lucky you!"

"Lucky me is right!" I said grinning.
