Kelcey hid in the forest near the base. She was dressed in all black. She put her hair up in a bun. She saw Tord, who was dressed in black, all except his coat.
"You okay?"
"Yeah. I've been here the whole time."
He gave her an earpiece and a light sword. She looked at the sword, surprised.
"How were you able to make this in such little time?"
"You'd be surprised at what I could do."
She got a tablet out and put some codes in it.
"I hacked into the live cameras. I don't think Sandie's there."
"Well, don't jinx it."
"I found Edd, but no Sandie."
"Show me Edd."
Edd was dressed formally, and the goggles on his face. Tord's mouth dropped again.
"Edd, what had she done to you?" he whispered under his breath.
Kelcey sighed. Edd and Tord used to be really close, and it really hurt him to see him like that.
"We'll do this. We'll get them back."
Tord looked over a rock, trying to see if there were any soldiers were guarding the base.
"Is my man Aksel there?"
"No. No one's guarding."
"Strange."
"You know, your mom had a little song before she would fight."
Kelcey looked at him, surprised.
"You never mention Mom."
"Well, I'm just saying."
"How did the song go?"
"Look at these lyrics."
He handed her a piece of paper. It had a code on it. She put it into her eyepiece. She listened to it. She fell in love with the lyrics,
"Meet me on the battlefield
Even on the darkest night
I will be your sword and shield, your camouflage
And you will be mine
Echos and the shots ring out
We may be the first to fall
Everything can stay the same or we could change it all
Meet me on the battlefield"
She looked up. Tord was gone. She sighed and looked at the paper.
"I will."
