Maybe a long sleeved t-shirt.
Bryce went through his closet looking for something casual but not shabby.
No need to dress up, but don't want to look like a tramp either. What about jodhpurs?
He wondered what Ashanté was wearing, then figured she'd likely wear something similar to last night. Grabbing his most comfortable pants and sneaks, he changed his clothes and hunted around for his wallet and keys.
"...and scored the winning touchdown. The team heads to Kansas City next week to play the final game of the season."
The TV blared in the other room, but he paid little attention to it, thinking about this date tonight.
Was it a date? More like two friends hanging out after work on a non-work day. Nothing earth-shattering.
So why was he so excited about it? He'd looked forward to this all day.
"This just in. The career of a rising star may be ending before it begins. A video posted by journalist Jolene Champerty an hour ago went viral, followed by videos from bystanders who filmed the drug-induced antics of popular singer Ashley Stetson. Her image up to now had been squeaky clean, but on her blog Champerty claims the singer showed evidence of addiction on previous occasions..."
Well, why shouldn't I be excited? Ashanté's a beautiful girl, and I like spending time with her.
Was it Ashanté's prerogative to plan the whole night? Or would it be okay to make suggestions? He didn't want the night to end after dinner. Maybe they could see a movie or go dancing. Maybe go roller skating, play minigolf or just walk around the mall.
"State governor Dirk Calhoun had this to say about the band who helped him win the election last year..."
His ringtone went off and Bryce answered the phone, expecting Ashanté on the other end. Probably thinks I've forgotten about dinner. Heh. I hope she's ready to go.
"Bryce? Turn on the news, channel seven," Maverick said.
"Huh? Um...okay." It was already on, but Bryce turned up the volume.
"As you can see in this video, Stetson ran into the street naked, suffering from hallucinations. Bystanders phoned paramedics, who took her to the Alma Rubens Substance Abuse Clinic, where she was admitted for inpatient rehab. According to Champerty, Stetson's manager supplied her with narcotics. Police apprehended him only minutes ago. Ironically, Stetson's latest single is called Ashes, and it appears that her career is now in ashes too."
And that ended dinner with Ashanté.
