"Quinn?" He asked, tilting his head to the side

"Quinn?" He asked, tilting his head to the side. "Is that you?"

Maddie watched the two stare at each other, as if they didn't know what to do.  Her father reached out to hug Quinn but then faltered, letting his arms fall to his side.

Quinn looked deep in thought, her eyes darting back and forth between Maddie and her father.

This was actually happening. They were finally meeting.

Maddie didn't understand why it was so hard for them to interact. She'd never seen her father like this. He was always bold and outgoing and didn't care of who he met. But this was different.

He was seeing his daughter he hadn't seen in sixteen years. The one he never thought he'd see her again.

Quinn continued to tug on Maddie's arm, trying to draw her away. Even if it was much too late. She didn't seem eager to meet him, for reasons Maddie didn't understand.

He was her father. She'd always gone on and on about how Maddie had him when she didn't.

Now they were sitting face to face and neither of them was moving. It was almost like they were afraid, why Maddie didn't understand. But they were and she didn't know what she was supposed to do.

They were like statues, like this had been something unexpected,

What did Quinn think staying here? That she wouldn't see him?

Or maybe she hadn't expected to see him so soon. Maddie knew how that felt.

Alice and Ally watched in silence, glancing between the two and waiting for who would make a move first.

Maddie didn't understand their problem. She hadn't been like this when she met her mother. Well she'd met her in a "cell" and had talked about how much they'd missed each other.

This was different. Quinn wasn't her. She didn't accept things so easily and she was much more stubborn.

Maddie sighed exasperatedly, taking one of their hands in hers. She squeezed Quinn's hand reassuringly.

"Okay." Maddie said. "I know this is hard. I know this is different. But it's not going to kill you to say hello." Maddie paused.

"Imagine a world where none of this happened. Where we lived a happy little family."

Maddie paused again.

"Where we didn't have to be this awkward around each other. Where everyone was normal and how it should be." Maddie said. "But I almost forgot. You have to close your eyes. Otherwise you won't see anything."

Alice chuckled, tugging at the bow in her hair. People across Auradon criticized her for being too childish, but she paid them no mind.

"I said that before." Alice said.

"You did." Maddie said, nodding.

"Maddie is right." Ally said. "We can act like we don't know each other. Or we can try to mend the broken fence and start over."

"If I were you I'd go for the second one." Alice said, "It seems like the better option doesn't it Quinn?"

Quinn seemed shocked that she knew her name, then seemed to realize her father had called her by her name and it made her feel embarrassed.

"I like the second one." Quinn said, sighing, letting go of Maddie's hand and reaching her hand out. The Mad Hatter reached out and shook it, before heading in for a hug.

Quinn stiffened slightly before giving in, not used to having someone hug her.  Not used to someone caring about her. This was different and it seems she liked it. A smile spread across Quinn's face.

"Goody." Alice said, "Now we can go and get some tea. Are you coming children?"

"No." Ally said. "We uh already had tea. See you later mummy."

"See you later my Delia." Alice said, pressing a kiss to Ally's temple.

"Bye dad." Maddie and Quinn said at the same time. The Mad Hatter beamed, muttering things to himself under his breath.

"Goodbye my darlings." He said, raising his top hat in goodbye.

Once they were out of earshot, Maddie let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.

"You were nervous huh?" Ally asked,

"Nervous?" Maddie repeated, "No...I mean yes. I was nervous. They didn't seem to want to budget for a second.'

"Oh yes we were all holding our breaths then." Ally said. "Seeing who would make the first move. How are you feeling Quinn?"

Quinn didn't seem to be used to people asking that question, so it took her a minute to muster out an answer,

"I don't know how I feel." Quinn said. "Happy? Confused? Scared? All at the same time. My feelings are all jumbled inside. I have lots of questions."

"And you';ll get answers." Maddie said. "I felt the same way when I met mom"

"You met your mother?" Ally asked. "Oh wait of course you did. You went to the Isle."

"You heard about that?" Maddie asked as Ally nodded.

"Pandora and Crystal spilled everything to me and Talia when they came." Ally said. "Apparently they were traumatized by a girl that uses a knife to sharpen her nails."

Maddie and Quinn shared a look.

"Sam." Maddie said. "That's her name."

"Yes they were really hung up on the fact that she was the daughter of both of their parents' enemies." Ally said. "And that she was pregnant without being married. Crystal's mom got that drilled in her head."

"Sam's really nice if she doesn't have anything to hate you for." Quinn said. "Otherwise she'll be a real bitch."

"This coming from the girl that had a feud with her for the longest time." Maddie added. "That was only fueled when she found you with her boyfriend."

"It's not what you think." Quinn said. "I swear I didn't mean to make out with him in front of her. I didn't know she was there."

"Still happened." Maddie said with a shrug.

Quinn kicked her foot up, splashing Maddie with water.

"Our feud is over now by the way." Quinn said. "I declared it over."

"Then you started it with Heather." Hanna said as she came to join them.

"Well if it isn't Hanna." Quinn said. "Fucking backstabber."

Carlos walked over to them, which seemed to fuel Quinn's anger even more.

"What do you want Puppy Boy?" Quinn snapped,

"Can I borrow Maddie for a minute?" Carlos asaked.

"Okay." Quinn said. "You must have a chaperone though. I don't trust that you'll not end up breaking her heart again. Go with them Ally."

Ally made sounds of protest, not wanting to be dragged into the conversation.

"Ally go." Quinn said. "I'd like to catch up with my dear friend Hanna."

Ally got the message, trailing after Maddie and Carlos, muttering about how she didn't want to be doing this right now.

Maddie didn't either.
