CHAPTER 5 - When Things Go Wrong

Chase drives to Isabella's penthouse in his Audi R8 Spyder. As he waits for her outside her building, he leans on the hood of the car dressed up in a black coat and tie.

"What's all this?" Isabella asked as she approaches Chase. She was wearing a black and white striped long sleeves shirt tucked in a black skater skirt and black flats.

"I like your little outfit." Chase joked. "Why are you so dressed up? That's unfair!" She exclaimed. Chase laughs, "Just get in the car, you look beautiful." He says. "Where are we going?" She asks and gets in the car. Chase smiles at her and doesn't say anything.

"C'mon you're killing me! Is it a fancy restaurant?" She asked. "Why do you think it's a fancy restaurant?" He teases. "Because you are wearing a fancy suit and you told me to wear something casual!" She laughs it off. "Isabella... Wait can I just call you Bella? Or Belle? What do you want to be called?" He swiftly changed the topic. "Slick move there, Everett. You can call me, Belle." She replied. Chase laughs and ends the conversation.

As they make their way to the surprise date that Chase has planned, the two of them just get to know each other more. Chase puts his hand on the stick shift and Isabella puts her hand on top accidentally and the two of them smiled at each other. "Wow. We're already holding hands. This date is moving quite fast." He joked and she laughed.

When they arrived Chase laughed and Isabella was stunned to see that they were in the Hamptons and on the beach. "What're we doing here?" She asked but Chase ignored her as he went out of his car and ran to the car door where Isabella was.

He then carried her out of the car. "Chase, what're you doing?" She said and giggled. "What do you think I'm doing? I'm being romantic." He joked. He didn't put her down until they reached the part of the beach where the deck of his house was.

There were lights hung over the beautiful deck, a table beautifully set up with a candle and flower on the center of the table, and then rose petals are spread around the deck and on the stairs. He puts down Isabella on the sand before she ascends the stairs going to the deck.

"Do you like it?" Chase asks as she marvels the view as they go up to the deck. "Are you always this cheesy?" She jokes. Chase laughs and doesn't mind the compliment. "Wow. This is so nice, Chase." She compliments him again. "Thanks." He said softly. "So what's the occasion?" She asked. "It's best if we discuss it through dinner." He said and pulls a chair for her. "Thank you." She said. Then Chase serves the food.

"The appetizer was good and this steak is the best!" She said as she slices it with her steak knife. "I'm glad you're really enjoying this." He said and drank his wine. "Isabella, there's something I really need to tell you." He added. "What? What is it?" Isabella said curiously.

"Do you remember Allie? My ex?" He asked. "Yeah. What about her?" She asked. "She might be... she could possibly... be... carrying my baby." He said in the calmest tone. Isabella's eyes widened and she threw the napkin on the table and walked away to the beach.

"Isabella!" Chase called out to her. "I need a minute to compose myself." She said angrily and started yelling in French. "You have a kid?!" Isabella exclaimed. "Possibly yes." He said. "How sure are you that's it's yours? I thought it was that guy's baby!" She asked. "I just know." He said.

"Is it a money problem? Because if there is..." Chase cut her off. He put both of his hands on her cheeks. "Honey, Isabella, we're gonna take a paternity test to really know who the father is, okay? If it's mine I will be involved in the child's life, full time. I know you're not that type of person who likes commitment or what not, its fine. I am not pressuring you, sweetie okay?" Chase said and kissed her lips.
