CHAPTER 22 - The Final Question

Chase wakes up with an empty bed. He sees Allie sitting on the lounge chair just outside of the room.

He puts on his boxers and went outside to hug her from the back then kissed her cheek. "How are you?" He asked. "What made you so sure I'd say yes last night?" She asked.

Chase laughed and sat in front of her and beside her legs. "You told me once before that if you would've said yes to my first proposal everything would've been better...." He got cut off. "But how sure were you?" She asked.

"Uh... I was 100 percent sure you'd say yes, because who wouldn't wanna marry me, right?" He joked and kissed her.

"I hate you." She mouthed the words as the kissed and Chase felt the smile on her face. "I love you too." He said and then carried Allie to the bed where they cuddled and made out for a while.

"So I guess it's official, huh?" Chase asked Allie as he wraps his arms around her. "Yeah? Is it?" She joked. "You know I've missed how sarcastic you are, Als." He said.

Allie didn't answer but she crinkled her nose and Chase kissed it then they just held each other in silence and finally let the moment sink in.

It was half past twelve, Allie and Chase ate lunch by the beach. "So what do you want to do today?" Chase asked. "I just wanna be with you." Allie replied in a flirty way and made Chase laugh. "I'm serious!" He said.

"Before you got here, I was planning to go to a local market nearby. You know, get to see the different ingredients, spices, fruits and vegetables of Ubud." She replied. "Oh. Why don't I come with you? I could be your trusty photographer-slash-bodyguard while you shop." He said with a smile. "Really?" She asked. "Of course! I'd never pass up the opportunity to spend time with you." He said in a flirty way and she kissed him then stood up to change clothes in the bathroom.

So after they freshen up, Alex, his wife, Chase and Allie visit the market. As they descended from the van Alex and Chase took pictures of Allie. Then Allie grabbed Chase's arm and showed him and let him taste some of the ingredients she's buying, Alex gladly took a picture of the happy couple. While they shop for ingredients Chase stole kisses from Allie. He kissed her forehead as they wait for the merchant to give them the fruits and vegetables Allie picked.

As they finish taking in Bali life, Allie and Chase decided to go back to the hotel and rest up. Chase thought they'd have a quiet night in together but Allie had other plans. "What do you mean you have other plans?" Chase said. "I'm sorry! I asked the chef to teach me some local favorites for my next cook book." Allie said and pouted. Chase crashed on the bed and rolled his eyes, "Fine." He gave up then Allie kissed him and then left the room.

While Allie was out taking pictures and learning how to cook Indonesian cuisine, Chase asked some of the resort's crew to set up a small dining table beside their private pool and fill the room with candles and roses including rose petals scattered on the floor and forming a heart on the bed.

By eight o'clock Allie arrived and unlocked the door. "Surprise!" Chase said and held her hand as they go in. Allie was in awe and didn't know what to say.

They walk to the side of the pool and he turned on some mood music. "What's all this for?" She asked. "I figured I'd do something nice since you worked your ass off today and for finally having some alone time with you." He said in a sweet way and pulled back her chair so she could sit. "Awe thank you." She said and kissed his cheeks.

Chase then brought the food to her plate and to his also before sitting across from her. So they laugh, they talk, they dine and relax.

Then Etta James' song, "At Last" played, Chase stood up and extended his right arm to Allie. "Can I have this dance?" He asked and Allie nodded with a smile. She takes his hand and he hugs her back, letting him wrap his arms around her stomach as he rests his head on her shoulders.
