CHAPTER 10 - The Time Jump

"Good Morning, Beautiful." Chase said as he greets Isabella who is sleeping beside him. "Good morning, Chase." She replied. "I'm going to get Cassie from school today. Do you wanna join me?" He asks as he gets out of the bed.

"No I can't today, sweetie. I have a press conference to go to. We're announcing something big for the zoo." She replied. "Yeah? What time?" He asked now in his bathroom. "Around three in the afternoon." Isabella said. "I'll be sure to go and support you, my dear." Chase said. "Awe I love you. Come give me a kiss before you take a shower." She said and Chase kisses her. "I love you too." He said and then takes a shower.

After Chase eats breakfast he goes to work. He is swamped with paperwork and meetings all day because he's now the head of C. Everett Architecture, his dad retired a couple of years ago and left him in charge. Carlie is Chase's right hand woman as well and they both run the company. When the clock struck two thirty in the afternoon he left the office went home to change and picked up Cassie from school.

"How was school?" Chase asked. "It was okay. My teacher told me her love story." She said. "Love story? Aren't you a bit young for that?" He said. "I don't know but it was very romantic." She replied as she holds Chase's hand as they walk down the street.

"Where are you going with this?" He asked. "I wanna know the story of how you and mom met." She said enthusiastically. They enter Central park and eat some bagels that Chase bought. Chase laughs, "Why are you suddenly interested in my love life young lady?" He said. "I was inspired by how my teacher found her one true love." She said cutely.

"How about I tell you the story of how Isabella and I met?" He suggested. "Uggghhhh." She groaned. "What? You suddenly don't like her?" He asked. "I like her but she's not my mom." She said. "Let's face it Dad, whenever I see you with mom there are sparks flying everywhere and clearly she still loves you." She said.

Chase looks at Cassie, "you think mom still loves me?" He asked.

Cassie looks up at him and smiles, "You still love her too, don't you?" She teased and they both laugh. "She'll always be special to me, kiddo." He said and then they both sit on the park bench. "Dad, why won't you tell me the story of how you and mom fell in love?" She asked.

"Look there's a crowd do you wanna go take a look?" He said. Cassie laughs as Chase smoothly changes the topic then he carried her and she sat on his shoulders so Cassie can see properly. "It's Isabella!" She said enthusiastically and then Chase laughs.

Isabella was on stage saying her speech about rescuing three new species of penguins and the New York Zoo will be of service for further observation and care taking. As they bring out the penguins Liam was the one bringing one of the penguins and showed it to the press.

Chase's eyes widen at the sight of Liam and Isabella together on stage. Isabella sees Chase in the back and she waves at him and Cassie. "You know what?" Chase said to Cassie. "Why don't we go get some ice cream?" He said feeling hurt and angry. So they go get some ice cream and they go back to his penthouse apartment.

They eat Chinese food take out and Cassie retreats to her room to study. Chase cleans up and sits on the couch drinking some scotch as he waits for Isabella to come home.

It was twelve o'clock in the evening and Isabella went inside the house laughing and kind of drunk. "Where were you?" Chase asked as Isabella locks the door behind her. "What time is it?" He asked.

Isabella turns to face him laughing. "Lighten up, Chase it's still twelve o'clock." She said. "Where were you?" He asked in an angry tone. "Who are you my father?!" She yelled. "No but I am your boyfriend." He said firmly.
