Welcome to A CROWN OF THORNS. The first book in the Women Of Steel trilogy.
This book is based in Africa; like the other two books are, Ancient Yoruba kingdom to be specific, however it is set in a fictional universe and so not historically accurate. There will be words in Yoruba that I will translate at the end of each chapter.
This book is also loosely based on the beauty and the beast, For a long time I've wanted to do a beauty and the beast retelling so I am really excited to be writing this.
Additionally, it is loosely based on the Yoruba legend of Moremi.
A lot of things inspired this book, some of them being the modern concept of feminism, misogyny, my love for badass women and magic.
Each chapter is about a thousand words long, and may not extend that number unless it is absolutely necessary. This book is a novella of sorts, the short chapters are deliberate.

Warning;
This is not a book about feminism, It is about broken women and angry goddesses. I've always been fascinated by Yoruba mythology and the dynamics of its society so expect magic, mentions of ancient deities and sad stories.
It contains elements of violence, death, depression, domestic abuse, misogyny, androgyny and characters with very flawed views. No character in this book is purely good or bad, not even the female lead.
Note that this book is set in ancient times and in a different culture that you readers are used to.
