It has been two days since I have been at school. Mother explained that I have every Saturday and Sunday off of school. I was in my fourth class of the day with Calix, Seraphina and Moka. Another bell rang and we left class. "Time for lunch!" Moka said as we left the room. I saw the others waiting for us again. "Let's go." Topaz said. We walked for a little ways and went up a staircase. "Come on. We can try to get seats on the second floor of the cafeteria." Rose said. "Stop! I won't let you go through those doors." I heard a voice from behind us say. I turned and so did my friends. "Oh back off Amanda! Why don't you go crawl back to Ashley and Brittney." Topaz said. The girl was the same spiky purple haired girl from before. The brown haired girl must be Brittney "No. Ashley said for her to come and stop you." Brittney said. "Rumor around here is that you and Professor Matthew are besties Who is he? Your Daddy?" I heard Ashley sneer.
I stepped forward toward her, "We are not uh besties? Nor am I his daughter. He was a friend of my father's." "Okay? And? Why do I care?" Ashley retorted. She pushed my chest hard. My friends caught me as I fell back. "Ow." I said with the same calm tone as before. "Ow? Ow!? Is that all little girl? Huh? Is that really all you want to say? " Brittney countered. "Leave her alone!" I heard Calix say. "Not until she stops acting like a little brat" I heard a guy from behind us say. Calix turned and went to approach the guy who said it while he carefully slid his hand under his jacket to grab his hidden dagger. I quickly moved in front of him. "Don't!" I said placing my hand on his chest to stop him, "You cannot harm them. They are my people too." I whispered the last part, so only Calix could hear. He removed his hand from behind him, leaving his blade hidden. I moved to face Ashley. "I have done you no wrong during our brief time here and yet you treat me terribly. Why is that?" I asked. "I do not have to answer your stupid questions you dumb little girl." Ashley said. "Yes you do." Calix snapped. "No Calix, she does not. I am not any one important." I said looking at him sternly. He nodded slightly, "Apologies for my behavior Ashley. Would you please leave us alone now and let us through the doors?"
The girls look shocked, most likely at how quickly Calix's attitude changed. The guys did too and moved out of the way to let us go into the cafeteria. We entered, picked up our food and sat down at a table at the far end of the room. We finished eating in thirty minutes. "Wow!" "That was awesome!" "How did you get them to listen like that?!" "You stunned them." "Even we were surprised." "How does Professor Matthew know your dad?" My friends all said at once before we even sat back down. "Thank you. We know how to deal with people who do not like to listen or be nice and the reason Matthew and my father know one another is because my father was the lead general of the Alterian army. Matthew was second in command and was my father's best friend." I said. "Why do you use past tense when talking about your father? Was a general, was a friend. Did your father die or something?" Moka asked, emphasizing the word was. "Moka! Don't be rude. That's none of your business." Topaz snapped.
"It is quite alright Topaz. She has a right to ask. It is not rude, She is just being curious." I turned to Moka, "My Father went missing when I was four years old. We have not heard from him in over eleven years." I said confidently, but with sadness in my voice. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry I brought it up Mia." Moka said. "Like I said to Topaz it is fine. I am glad you asked, otherwise I probably never would have said something. Thank you." "Um...You're welcome?" Moka questioned. I smiled at her. Soon lunch was over and we left for class.

TWO MONTHS LATER

"Euphemia? Please wake up. You are going to be late to school." I heard my grandmother say for the fifth time now. She shook me lightly. I groaned and sat up. I do not want to be late to school, but I am tired. I knew I would get in trouble if I did not listen, so I got out of bed. "Yes grandmother." I said. "Thank you little one." Grandmother said. I walked into my closet as my grandmother left the room. I decided to wear a short, but simple blue and white three layered dress with a blue bow at the waist, white shoes with a blue bow at the ankle, and my hair is in low pigtails. I walked into the Grand Hall and saw Mother and Calix waiting for me.
"Good morning mother, Hello Calix." I said. "Good morning. Have a good day at school my princess." Mother said with a soft smile. "Thank you Mother." I said, Mother nodded and smiled in response. Calix and I exited the palace and made our way to school. We arrived at school a few minutes before the bell rang. I love my first class. "Hello Mia." I heard a familiar voice say as I walked into class. "Hello Matthew how are you today?" I asked as I sat down. "I am fine thank you. Here is your assignment for today girls. It is due at the end of class." Matthew said handing each of us a piece of paper. "Yes sir." We all replied. He smiled and walked back to his desk. Soon class was over. We turned in our papers and left class. Before I knew it, it was time for our last class. Sadly Ashley, Brittney, and Amanda are in there. The best part is that all my friends are in that class. I walked in and sat in a desk in the center of my group of friends.
"Hey Mia." Moka said. "Moka? Why do you call me Mia?" I asked still a bit confused. "Euphemia is too long and Euphie is already taken. I mean your boyfriend calls you Euphie. Doesn't he?" Moka said smiling. "Moka. Calix is not my boyfriend. I have already told you that, but yes, he calls me Euphie." I said. I looked at Calix, but he looked away, his face turning a little pink. I shrugged slightly. "Whatever you say Euphemia, but I think he might like you." Seraphina said whispering to me. "What? No! That is not possible. Is it?" I asked shocked. My friends nodded, apart from Calix who was still avoiding eye contact. What is wrong with him? "I could ask him for you." Topaz said. "Huh. Oh. No, I should ask. I will later. After school." I said snapping out of my daze. "Well if you chicken out let me know and I will ask." Topaz said smiling. The girls giggled.
"Alright. Thank you Topaz. I will let you know if I chicken out." I said smiling. A short while later there was a knock at the door. Then four of mother's royal guards barged in. I lowered my head to avoid eye contact. The teacher, Ms. Snow looked up. "We are here to retrieve the princess and her knight." The guard I recognize as General Amelia said. "Who are you?" Ms. Snow said in a demanding voice. "I am a general of the royal guard of Alteria." Amelia said. "I am sorry, but there's no princess here. I think I would know." Ms. Snow said. Amelia drew her sword and pointed it at the teacher. Some kids gasped, while others screamed. Ms. Snow stood deathly still. "How dare you speak lies to me!" Amelia said clearly angered. I looked at Calix. "Calix! Stop her!" I said a little loud. He nodded, stood and in one quick movement moved between Amelia and the teacher, drew his hidden dagger and pointed it at Amelia. "Stand down General. Now!" Calix commanded. Amelia looked at angrily at Calix before she realized who was standing in front of her. "Yes sir, Apologies." Amelia said and returned her sword to her side. "Where is your Princess?" Amelia said. I looked at my friends and sighed. "I am sorry guys." I said. "What? Why are you apologizing? You could not have known" Seraphina said. "You do not understand." I said. I looked toward Amelia and sighed again.
