"NARUTO!" Iruka yelled at the blonde, "this is the seventy-second time you've been late! And this time, you've made someone else late!"

Hinata stood shyly beside Naruto, blushing lightly. I rolled my eyes. I couldn't believe she had a crush on that dweeb.

"Hinata, you may sit down. Naruto, go into the hall and WAIT FOR ME," Iruka spoke sternly. Hinata quickly scurried to the back of the room keeping her head down. Naruto didn't move an inch until Iruka started yelling.

"Right, where were we? Ah, I was giving a lecture about the uses of Water Release techniques," Iruka began again.

I ignored him and studied Hinata. She kept her head down and her shoulders slumped.

'She looks far from how a Hyuga is supposed to appear,' I thought, and almost like she read my mind, she fixed her posture.

Once again, I zoned out during class. Afterwards, I saw Hinata jump up and rush over to where Naruto was.

'Strange, she always tries to avoid eye contact with him, now she's going to talk?'

"Hinata! You ready to go?" I heard Naruto ask.

"Y-yeah," she quietly responded. What was she getting ready for?

I decided it would be best if I followed her.

As they were walking out, two other people followed them, Choji and Shikamaru. The four of them began heading into town and I tailed them. I didn't want to admit it, but I hated the thought of Hinata getting into trouble because of those three.

For awhile, they looked around at different items. Each of them pointed at things they liked and disliked.

Shikamaru veered sharply away from a store that sold books giving advice on marriage, while Choji stared at someone eating snacks, his mouth watering. Naruto was staring at ramen of course, and Hinata was looking at a beautiful amethyst necklace.

'I didn't know she liked that sort of thing,' I thought, but of course there was a lot I didn't know about her.

"Hey, do you guys wanna get some ramen," Naruto inquired.

"Fine with me," Shikamaru replied.

"Yeah, whatever is good," Choji spoke.

"What about you?" Naruto asked Hinata. She nodded an 'okay', and the four of them headed toward a ramen stand.

After they had eaten, they walked to a dock and sat down on a bench.

"Ahhh," Naruto sighed, "that was good."

"Do you think we can catch a fish?" Choji asked pointing at the river.

"Nah, besides, they're too slippery," Shikamaru responded.

They sat in silence for a time until Shikamaru said he'd have to go or his parents would be furious. Choji said there were snacks for him to eat or whatever, and Naruto wanted more ramen.

They left and Hinata stayed where she was, gazing at the river. She let out a breath and stood, ready to leave.

All of a sudden, the river swelled and crashed against the docks. Hinata lost her footing as another wave hit. A third, much bigger wave hit, finally knocking Hinata off her feet, and into the water.
