"This is Ariel, born into V Shipping and the Jaeger business. She's joining our team today."
"It's nice to meet you all." I smiled lightly, looking over each of their faces.
The only other female smiled at me, "It's nice to meet you too, Ariel! My name is Dorothea. So, where are you from?"
"I was born and raised in Japan." I answered, shifting my weight to my other leg, "I just came to London recently."
"You're English is really good!" I blinked at the large man with bright orange hair and a cute grin, "I'm Fallon, by the way!"
I nodded lightly, "Thank you." I replied.
He's big and intimidating, but his personality is the opposite.
"So, you wield a sword then?" The smallest boy asked, the one that I was glad looked my age, "Hopefully you aren't reckless like our other blade wielder."
"Um..."
"This little brat is Philip." Dorothea smiled and Fallon rubbed the boys head,
"He's got an attitude but he's a great guy, really! He's still a bit new here, just like you!"
"Hey! My hair!" Philip cried, struggling against Fallon's large hands.
I giggled lightly, glad that everyone was so carefree and relaxed. I was worried they would ignore me and treat me poorly and I would end up being an awkward sixth wheel.
"And you are?" I asked, tilting my head at the other boy, a blunt look on his features as he cleaned his staff, "You must be the other blade wielder I presume?"
"Y-yeah." He stuttered out, looking up at me with slight hesitance, "I'm Yuliy."
"Yuliy... that's quiet a unique name. I like it."
"Unique huh?" He smiled lightly to himself, "Thank you, Ariel. You have a pretty name yourself."
I blushed slightly, jumping back as Philip ran in front of me, striking a bold stance, "Already flirting with the new girl, Yuliy?! Have you no shame!?"
"It was just a compliment-"
"That's enough." The professor sighed, "It's just about time now. Are you ready for your first mission, Ariel?"
A smirk edged it's way onto my face as my blood began to flow just a little bit faster in excitement, "I came ready, Professor."-
"That was pretty easy." I frowned, cleaning the blade of my sword, "You all are an incredible team."
"Well, you're a lot stronger than we assumed. You and Yuliy together out there was pretty impressive for your first mission."
"But it wasn't my first mission, it was just my first mission with all of you." I paused to look up at Dorothea, "I guess I just wanted a bit more of a challenge, but not so much that anyone got too badly hurt."
"I don't get you young kids thirst for battle..." Fallon sighed, leaning his head back over his chair, "Philip always wants a good fight too."
"So does Yuliy, but those two are all about revenge and stuff." Dorothea leaned in closer to me, resting her arms on the back of my chair and smiling devilishly, "So what about you? You have some kind of vengeance mission as well?"
I remained silent, turning back to my sword. What is the reason I fight vampires as a Jaeger? Other than the fact that my father and mother were both past members of V Shipping and Jaeger fighters? I guess... it's because it's all I've ever known.
"I, um... I don't have any vengeance missions." I replied, swallowing, "What about you?"
"No vengeance? That's odd for someone like you to be fighting without some kind of ulterior motive." Dorothea frowned, "Oh well. I guess that's a good thing, you haven't lost any one important to you. You're lucky."
Lucky...?Am I really that lucky? I guess so...
But I never really had parents to begin with. Sure, they're alive, but I was raised by a coach and not by a father. I was raised by a mother through letters and not through touch and making cute treats together like in the books. Those on this team who lost someone lost some one special, some one they had golden memories with that formed their happiness.
My parents didn't form my happiness, my blade did. Fighting vampires did.
My frown deepened and I narrowed my eyes at the sky full of stars.
How sickening.
"You're still up?" I stiffened, turning my head slightly to see Philip walk up beside me, sighing, "I guess it isn't that late. But everyone thinks you're asleep."
"After I got cleaned up I wanted to sleep, but I couldn't." I explained, "So I decided to take a walk."
"I was going to play a bit. Is it alright if I...?" Philip held up his violin and my eyes widened at the sight of it.
"Oh, yes, I'd love to hear you play." I smiled to him and quickly moved to sit on a near by bench while he situated the violin on his shoulder and placed his chin on the black end, raising the bow to the strings.
He took a deep breath before he began, and I closed my eyes for a moment to focus only on the music. The wind formed a light breeze and I opened my eyes slowly, glazing unto his bright blonde hair as the wind flowed through it, and how his ice blue eyes stared down at the movements of his fingers carefully.
