"We kinda stick out like a sore thumb don't we?" Philip began, staring lazily out at the busy streets and I blinked as I noticed a woman giving us weird looks.
"Foreigners aren't that odd these days, Japan's a lot more open now." Dorothea shrugged, and my eyes widened as she flipped her hair over her shoulder, boasting about her figure.
"'Gotta point. If ya packed any tighter into that shirt you'd probably- AH!"
I sighed, turning away from the two and looking to the cars driving by and the people walking along to their destinations. I'd only been away from Japan for a few years, and yet I felt so much déjàvu from being here now.
I missed this place, in one way or another, this is the home that I belong in.
"Ah! You must be from V Shipping!"
My eyes widened slightly and I turned to see a young man approach us, most likely our ride, but the way he called out to us had me thinking with a frown.
Japan may be the place I was born, but the place I know best really always has been V Shipping, hasn't it?
"Welcome to Japan!"

The ride to the Naoe family was long and tiring, it was mostly silent and surprisingly enough, Philip fell asleep and his head fell right on my shoulder.
I swallowed hard, turning to stare out the window and trying to hide my blush, hoping even though he was asleep, Philip wouldn't be able to hear my heart pounding.
"There's the estate there!"
"Philip." I mumbled, turning to him as the driver spoke up in a cheery tone, the boy stirred.
I sighed, trying to study his hair and stain the image of it in my mind for drawing purposes later. Despite Philip being a bit of a jerk sometimes, he was adorable all the same - and his eyes - I loved his blue eyes more than anything.
"Philip, wake up." I began again just a little louder, lazily shaking his shoulder, a part of me wanting to let him sleep.
Fallon suddenly barked a laugh, "We're here! Wake up blondie!"
"Huh?!"

The tour of the estate began almost immediately after Willard left to go and talk business. We all just wanted to relax, Philip complained about his bathroom needs as we went, and the overly kind maid quickly led us to one of the many bathrooms.
I studied the structure, how clean it was, standing back and waiting for Philip to finish whatever the hell he was still doing in the bathroom - probably fixing his hair - as the others walked off to continue the tour.
This place was nothing like my old house; small, and easily expendable. Hiding in plain sight one would say.
"Ariel? Where is everyone?!"
"They went on with the tour, of course." I replied, looking to see the boy with wide eyes.
"They couldn't even wait two seconds for me?! God!" He groaned, beginning to stomp off in the wrong direction, "At least you had some patience for me."
"Philip, wait a sec- they went this way." I called after him, pointing towards the opposite direction he was going.
He froze in place and I could tell he was embarrassed, but he easily turned it into anger and turned, grabbing my wrist and running with me in the right direction to catch up with others.
"Guys!" He yelled after them, "I go to the bathroom for one second and you- hey, where's  Yuliy?" Philip asked, and the both of us stared up at Dorothea and Fallon in confusion as they smiled.
"He said he caught a sent worth following."
"A what?" Philip quickly scoffed and rolled his eyes, "Ugh who even cares, lets just go."
"I'm hungry." I mumbled, feeling my stomach growl as the maid showed us our rooms.
"Hey, Miss, do you happen to have any snacks for us?" Philip asked, shocking me.
"Oh of course! Make yourselves at home in the lounge here," The maid gestured to a small room with a table and chairs and a shelf of books, "I'll be right back!"
"Thank you." Philip met my eyes, but quickly looked away as he walked into the room.
Yuliy suddenly appeared as well, walking in like he had never left with his case in hand, setting it down and pulling out his weapon to clean it.
I set my case down on the floor and leaned against the window still, staring out at the bright sky and thinking about how different the sky would be tonight.
Now, when the sun fell, it wasn't stars that lit up the night. It was only the moon and the odd glow of bloodshed.

-

"I'll take the high ground." I nodded to Yuliy and he continued walking towards the back alley as I began to make my way up. The street lights were bright and the only people walking out were either late working business men, police, and one particular young woman in an expensive pink dress.
I watched her move, talking to the police before sliding into the back alleys where Yuliy was. I thought about signalling to him - but I knew Yuliy could probably already smell her.
The smell of blood.
"Hey!"
Shit. I thought, not recognizing the voice, more casualties.
I sprinted over, about to jump down to get her from above, but her back up cut me off. Growling to myself, I turned and quickly met up with Yuliy - jumping through the thin space between buildings, climbing our way through the cities short cuts to get closer to Philip and Fallon, close behind the vampires.
As Yuliy jumped down to them, we made eye contact and silently told ourselves of the separation with a short nod of good luck. I grunted slightly, flipping through the air and managing to successfully slip through the back window of Willard's car.

Dorothea slammed on the breaks and I jumped out of the vehicle, taking a few steps forward and giving a quick glance to everyone to make sure they were okay before turning back to Yuliy and the vampire on the bridge.
From what I could see, she was flying - which meant she was a royal. Willard yelled out to the male to stop, but there was something different about him as he didn't even glance back - leaping off of the bridge after the royal with a battle cry.
He's gonna make it - I gasped as a gun shot wrung through the area, Yuliy twisted in the sky from the impact and fell fast to the water.
"Yuliy!!" Willard screamed, running over to the railing spectating us from the river.
"I can swim, I might be able to save him!" I began, taking off my jacket, Philip quickly grabbed my arm.
"Are you insane?! You'll only get pulled down with him!"
"The currents too fast! We need more light!" Dorothea cried, trying to follow him.
Willard cursed, we all stood helpless, knowing we couldn't get him out safely. I felt like cursing as well, but I kept my mouth shut, wondering why all my life all I did was kill.
I could kill in my sleep, I was a jaeger - but I couldn't save anyone.

-

It was two days before the police contacted us with information about a doctor finding a young adult male with a gunshot wound on the river side.
I wanted to go and see Yuliy, but the professor insisted Dorothea and I stay behind, which didn't make any sense. Philip hated Yuliy, at least it sure seemed like it, so why the hell does he get to go but I don't?
I didn't dare question the man though, and I watched them all leave with a frown. Dorothea chuckled at me, trying to cheer me up by saying we could have some girl time for a change - but I wasn't really interested in talking about make up, hair or boys.
"Come on, Ariel. Don't tell me you'll really miss Philip that much."
I perked up, quickly looking to the smirking woman with narrowed eyes - she laughed before I could find words to speak, "It's obvious you favour the blonde. Don't know why, he's kind of a pest, but I won't judge."
I frowned, "I don't like Philip..." Grumbling under my breath, I looked down to my journal and felt my eye brow twitching at the sight of a full sketch of Philip smiling.
"You don't like him huh?" Dorothea picked up my journal swiftly and turned it so she could study it as I gasped, "Damn girl, you're really good!"
"I- uh... thanks, I guess."
"Is Philip all you draw?" She flipped through a couple pages and I felt my face heat up,
"Hey! That's mine!"
"Oh- there's one of Yuliy, but it's not really finished... why haven't you drawn me?"
"I-I- ugh- shouldn't you be doing work or something?!"
She burst out laughing and I ducked my head in defeat. If Willard didn't come back soon and we didn't get started on looking into this damn case, I would die from over heating.
