~Poppy's POV~
The night was long, cold, and for the most part, uneventful. The only thing that happened was the squeak of a mouse, which cause Puppy-Chan to growl softly for about two seconds.
It was now my watch, and I was freezing cold. It didn't help that the house contained no blankets whatsoever, but I had learned to deal with cold.
"Let it go... Let it go... Can't hold it back anymore..." I whispered softly to myself, Puppy-Chan by my side. "Let it go... Let it go... Turn away and slam the door... I don't care what they're going to say... Let the storm rage on..." I hugged my knees to my chest, a few tears escaping from my eyes. "The cold never bothered me anyway."
I buried my face in my hands, my legs folded with Puppy-Chan looking up at me with sad eyes.
I thought about it for a while, and finally realized that I'd probably never got to see a movie again. Never to see Frozen, Madagascar, How To Train Your Dragon, or anything, ever again.
It broke my heart, and I picked up Puppy-Chan and held him close to me, crying into his long gray fur.
After about ten minutes, I managed to focus on the task at hand once again. I was in charge of keeping our group safe. I was on watch duty, searching for any zombies that may be approaching.
I looked out a tiny crack that had been a window, before Adeline had boarded it up with nails.
The sun was on the rise, but I could sense that it was not yet safe to travel. Not while mist and fog covered the ground in an eerie blanket of white.
"Serenity. Adeline. It's morning." I whispered, shaking them both, my wolf hat slowly falling off.
I immediately shoved it back on, tying the two ends back together as Adeline and Serenity yawned and got up.
"We'd better get going if it's morning." Serenity groaned, sitting up with fatigue.
"It's not safe to travel yet. There's fog and mist everywhere. Just wait a little longer until it burns off." I said, sitting down with Puppy-Chan.
"But we have to get to the city! You know, the city where people are taking a stand?" Adeline said. "The rebellion place thing?"
"I know. I want to get there as soon as possible, just like you guys, but there's no point in trying if we just die before we get there because we can't see a bloody thing in that fog!" I pointed out.
"You're right. We should wait for a little longer. But we should leave as soon as the fog disappears." Serenity told us.
"Yeah. This place gives me the creeps." I shivered.
