Zombie Survival Group- Dark House: Part 3

~Adeline's P.O.V~

We stopped running once we thought we lost the zombies. That was when Puppy-Chan started barking inside of Poppy's backpack. "Shh, Shh, Puppy-Chan." Poppy shushed the little puppy. "I think we should find a place to stay the night. I'm tired." Serenity stated. "Alright, we should start looking for a place to rest for the night." I said. We started walking all around the forest to find some means of settlement. "Oh! Look over there!" Poppy shouted. "Looks unsafe." Serenity commented. "It's the only thing we got right now anyway. We can just kill any zombies that get in the way." I said walking towards the house. We reached the house and opened the door. It was fairly dark so we had to be alert if anything attacked us. I walked upstairs with my knife in hand while Serenity and Poppy stayed downstairs. I opened a bedroom door and looked through the room. "There's gotta be some candles around here somewhere." I said to myself. I checked each drawer for any candles and had no luck. I left the room and checked another room. "Hey guys, I found some candles in the cabinet!" Serenity called out. "Ok!" I called back to her. I opened another door to a room and checked it also. That's when I heard footsteps behind me. I froze and tried not to turn around as a cold hand touched my shoulder. I squealed and Poppy backed away. "Oh my god, Poppy you scared me to death!" I said taking a huge breath. "Sorry, just wanted to tell you that Serenity and I found some food in the refrigerator. "What? Who would leave food behind like that?" I asked, shocked. "Don't know, but we have it now." Poppy said, walking down the stairs. I sighed and continued to check the room. I found some note in one of the drawers and decided to keep it. I stuffed it in my bag and walked downstairs. 'I'll read it later' I thought to myself. I lit some candles and set up my sleeping bag. "I guess i'll take the first watch. I could do a little work on the windows and doors before I wake you guys up though." I said. "Alright. I'll take the next shift." Serenity yawned before falling asleep. I looked around the house for any wooden boards to block the windows and doors. "Aha!" I said. I picked up the wooden boards and started blocking the windows and doors. "Let's just hope the zombies don't come through this time on." I said to myself. After that I found some food to feed Puppy-Chan and started my night watch.
