~Poppy's POV~
I sat on the floor with Minorue and Puppy-Chan, who were breathing gently as they slept.
I glanced over at my human companions, wondering sadly if we'd ever make it out alive. After all, we were a ragtag team made up of some teenagers, two wolves and a dog.
I looked at Adeline, thankful she hadn't been bitten. I looked at a dark spot on her leg. It looked kind of like a bruise, but there were two curved lines, ( ) like parentheses.
I gasped as I realized what it really was. It wasn't any ordinary spot. It wasn't a bruise. It was a bite. A zombie bite.
I paced around the room, wondering whether or not to tell Serenity about this. Adeline was endangering the whole group by lying about her encounter with the zombie.
I looked back at Adeline, who was tossing and turning in her sleep. Serenity was slumbering on in her corner, and I realized it would be better if I kept this new 'development' to myself.
Adeline wasn't a lost cause yet. If we could find the right medicine before time ran out, she could be okay.
I shook Adeline gently, trying not to wake her suddenly.
"Adeline. Adeline, wake up, and don't make a sound." I said, putting a finger to my mouth slowly. "Adeline. I know."
