Part Six

For some reason, Kade insists on putting a scarf over my eyes as a makeshift blind-fold. And for some reason, I agree. He assures me it's nothing I won't like, it's nothing rude (he coughs when he says that part) and it's nothing big either. So I don't get too excited.

Moments later, different scents fill my nostrils, all sweet and calming and perfect. Kind of like Kade, I suppose.

Shaking the thought away, I notice we've come to a stop.

“You can take off the blind-fold. Wait, here, I'll do it.”

He unravels the scarf from around my eyes and I open them to see a bubble bath before me. And when I say a bubble bath, I mean a bath filled to the rim with bubbles. I can't even see the water beneath it, but I still know it's there.

“Thanks, Kade.” I smile awkwardly, shifting from one foot to the other.

When he doesn't move and just signals for me to strip and get in, I gape at him. I motion for him to get out but instead, like the stubborn douche-dick he is, he just turns around so he can't see me. I guess that'll have to suffice though, as he makes no move to leave.

Stepping into the water, I'm surprised by just how relaxed it automatically makes me feel. It's so perfect, even though it's something so simple, and I remind myself that once I get the guts to actually man up and tell Kade of my new-found liking towards him, I'll have to thank him... somehow.

I feel fragile, sitting in the warm water. I guess I've just never felt so relaxed. But I know that I like this feeling. Of being calm and laid-back as if I have no cares in the world and nothing back can or will happen.

Realising that Kade still stands a few metres away, with his back to the wall, I tell him he can turn around now.

He comes over and kisses my forehead lightly, awkwardly, before I decide to liven things up a little. So, I grab a handful of bubbles and shove them into his face as he looks at me in shock, but he doesn't do the same to me, instead standing there with a goofy smile on his face. I'm glad to see him smiling like that again, less awkward, more playful as his face advances closer and closer to mine.

His voice is barely above a whisper, his lips almost touching my ear, as he says; “If I weren't doing this to make you happy, I'd so be kicking your ass right now with my awesome bubble throwing skills.” He leans back and winks at me.

I watch him as he walks to the door, admittedly staring at his muscles moving beneath skin. When he reaches it, he turns around with some final words, spoken completely normally as if he hadn't just threatened to throw bubbles at me in the most seductive voice he could muster. “Call me if you need anything.” And I curse the boy for being so adorable in that moment that I want to run after him, despite my naked body, kiss him and take him right there. But I think that might be a little too fast.

I lay here for God knows how long, but it sure seems as if hours have passed by the time that Kade is making his way back into the bathroom and telling me to get up and put on some boxers, which he hands me shamelessly. Well Hell, looks like someone's been sneaking through my boxer draw.

Noticing that, yet again, he doesn't turn to give me any privacy, I tell him to shove off so I can get changed and he obliges, leaving the room. In a way, it saddens me as I don't really want to be without him for even a minute, but I live with it and stick on the boxers, then making my way to the open bathroom door.

And outside, leaning against the wall, is Kade.

“Were you trying to get a sneak peak of my, uh, yeah...” I trail off, not so confident as I was when I began my sentence. Damn, I sound like a lunatic.

“What? No! Just waiting. I have something else to show you.”

He grabs my handing, letting a strange but welcome warmth spread through my whole body as he almost drags me down the stairs, telling me to close my eyes once we reach the bottom.

I follow his orders, closing my eyes as he leads me somewhere. I know it's to the kitchen from the direction we walk in, but decide not to ruin his moment of joy as I let him lead me. Even with my closed eyelids, I can tell that the space around me has grown darker, and shadows are being cast upon my eyelids as I'm told to sit down, which I do, trusting Kade that there actually is a seat below me.

When I'm told to open my eyes, I do, and I find myself staring at the two-people table which is filled with different dishes, all my favourite types. They're all traditional British dishes. I'd always preferred our food to anywhere else’s as it was what I grew up on. When I was younger, once a week, my family and I had a British day, where we'd eat nothing but food made in Britain and that belonged to a British recipe. I smile, loving how Kade seems to know me so well.

“Kade, this is so perfect. Thank you.” I can't help but notice how stupid I sound, like Kade is my boyfriend or something and I'm thanking him for taking me on our first date. I mean, not that the idea isn't appealing, just, not exactly happening at the moment. Maybe not ever if I don't get my ass in gear.

“Hey, no problem, mate. Any time.” His voice is too casual as he shrugs nonchalantly.

 I need to ask him.

"Mate, mind if I ask you for a, um, favour?”
