Stephanie's POV
I looked around the small cafe, trying to find my boyfriend. We are supposed to have a dinner date tonight but he's currently an hour late.
"Ready to order?" the waitress asked with a smile, for the 10th time since I got here.
"Just a little longer, my boyfriend should show up soon," I answered.
"Ok," she said then left. I looked down at my hands on the table and played with my fingers, this isn't the first time he's been late to our date, he's been late almost every date for the past three months.
After about five minutes I heard someone sit down at my table, I looked up in excitement just to see a stranger there.
"Just go with it," he whispered to me. I nodded and smiled. "Sorry babe, traffic was slow."
"That's fine," I replied.
We talked for a little bit then the waitress came back.
"Ready to order now?" She asked.
"Yes," I replied. We both ordered a burger and a milkshake then went back to talking.
"So what's your name?" the boy asked me.
"Stephanie, you?"
"Daniel," he answered. "You have a beautiful name."
"Thank you," I replied as a blush rose to my cheeks.
"You're welcome," he replied.
We kept talking even when the food came, we shared a bunch of stories and laughs.
As we were talking I heard someone walk up to us, I looked over and saw my boyfriend, Chad.
"Who the hell is this?" he asked rudely.
"My friend Daniel, why?" I asked casually.
"This is our date night," Chad said angrily.
"That you were 3 hours late for," I snapped back.
"That doesn't mean it's canceled," he shouted, causing everyone to stare at us.
"Keep your voice down," I instructed. He grunted then shook his head. "You have been late for every single date for the past three months, I clearly don't mean anything to you so we're over."
"You can't break up with me," Chad argued.
"Well I just did," I said with sass. Chad scoffed then left the cafe. I rolled my eyes and looked back at Daniel. "Sorry about that."
"You handled that so well," Daniel said in awe.
"I can be sassy if I want to," I replied with a small laugh.
"Good to know," he replied.
*about 3 weeks later*
Since I had no place to stay after I broke up with Chad, I stayed with Daniel in his apartment. Daniel and I also became best friends.
I woke up in my bed in the guest room and got up to get ready.
When I was finished getting ready I walked out to the kitchen to see Daniel making pancakes for breakfast.
"Good morning sunshine," he welcomed. He gave me the nickname sunshine because I'm always happy around him.
"Good morning giraffe," I replied. I'm sure you can guess how I got that nickname.
Daniel gave me a plate of pancakes then we sat down together to eat.
"How did you sleep?" he asked.
"Great," I replied. "I was thinking of getting a job, that way I can help you pay for this apartment."
"That's great! What were you thinking?" Daniel asked.
"Well I'm only 19 so nothin serious, just like a waitress or something like that," I answered with a shrug.
"That's cool," he said with a smile.
*after breakfast*
We sat down on the couch together, about to watch a movie, when Daniel got my attention.
"What's up?" I asked.
"Can I tell you something?"
"Anything."
"I like you, as in more than a friend way," Daniel said with his head down. I squeezed his hand and smiled.
"I like you too Dani," I whispered. Daniel looked up at me with a hopeful smile.
"Really?"
"Yes really," I replied. Daniel smiled then quickly attached our lips. I smiled and pulled myself closer to him by wrapping my arms around his neck, he placed his hands on my waist gently which made me smile more.
When we ran out of breath we pulled away and smiled at each other.
"May I have the honour of being your boyfriend?" Daniel asked politely.
"You may," I answered.
He pulled me in again and we shared a beautiful, passionate, kiss.
