Hope's P.O.V

No, this couldn't be happening.
I can't get married, I'm only 23. I have my whole life before me. And I don't even know the guy, what are my parents thinking. Do they think they can just get rid of me like I'm some trash, I'm a human being and I have rights and I'm able to make decisions for myself

"It's been our dream to see our family unite," my father said, yeah they were definitely crazy.

"Dad, I can't get married. " I said, I looked over at Alexander his expression was blank. What was going on in his mind, was he okay with this alliance or not. I needed to know I was going crazy, what happened to my freedom.

"Aren't you suppose to love the person you marry. Dad, you loved mom, right" I argued.

"Yes and you will learn to love Alex. He's a very fine young man, very successful " dad said

"But what about what I want, remember you promised me that after college. I would get my freedom " I stated

"Your mother did, I didn't "

"What, dad we live in the 21st century now no one does arrange marriages anymore"

"The isn't up for discussion Hope, " he said

"But dad"

"I said it's done Hope, you're getting married to Alex whether you like it or not " he shouted at me.

Tears fell down my cheeks, I couldn't believe he said that. My father never treated me that way and it hurt. Why didn't anyone consider my feelings? Everyone was looking at me, everyone but Alexander.

Why didn't he say something, disagree with the marriage. As if he senses my discomfort he looked at me, he looked angry. Now I know I'm not the only one that thinks this agreement is bullshit.

I stood up and went to the door before living I looked at my father and said: " I hope your happy " before closing the door with a loud bang. Call me dramatic but what would you do if your freedom was being taken away from you.

I went to my room, I packed my bag. I called Ava and asked if I could say over she aid yes, she left the party minutes ago. I decided not to let anyone know where I was going, let them suffer a little. I pulled my hoodie over my head and climbed out of my window. I walked a few blocks until Ava picked me up.

"Where to," she asked

"Anywhere" I replied
