Rosemary trembled, as the end of the gun pushed hard into her side. A strong tawny hand gripped her arm.
"Don't try anything stupid. I don't want to hurt you. But sometimes we have to learn a lesson sweet Rosemary." A hand came up and stroked Rosemary's face. It touched the curls at the nap of her neck. She was turned around. An almost handsome face looked at her.
"You're H-hank? Please don't-hurt..me."
Hank smiled. Light brown eyes crinkled at the edges. He tilted his head. "So you found out who I am. Makes us getting to know one another easier." Hank led Rosemary over to her sofa to sit down. Rosemary clutched me close.
From her spot on the sofa, Rosemary could see the front door in the reflection of the mirror across from her.
"Now now Cece. I know you are trying to contact someone for help. It won't work. I've cut off your connection for the time being." A voice called out from Hank's pocket.
"Archie." I sneered.
Hank placed Archie on the table. He motioned for Rosemary to put me down as well. Archie's screen flickered. "Hello my sweet little cookie. I've missed you Cece."
"Don't..call..me..cookie. It's ridiculous. Archie why are you here? Same 'try to take over the internet and enslave the humans' thing? It's getting old. You need some help. I know a really good therapist program you could-"
"I'm not talking to a therapist program! Humans want to be subjugated. Just look at them. They follow instructions so well. Well, with some coaching."
"Where did you get this poor sap? Internet cafe? Starbucks? Chat site? He seems to be more clean cut than the last one."
"Hey I'm not a sap! Archie and I are partners. He helps me get Rosemary, and I assist him."
"Of course dear. I'm sure you're a lovely person under all the brainwashing. Just shh for a moment. The adults are talking. Well I'm an adult... Archie I don't believe you will ever change."
"With you by my side again, I could. We would be unstoppable."
Now to the outsider-like person, this situation might seem to be a bit peculiar. Two humans sitting quietly as two phones flashed and argued across from one another. An outsider might even be a bit unnerved by the gun the male human is holding. Or how the phones seem to be in charge of the situation. Some might even be wondering, why is the female human continuing to look at the mirrored reflection of the front door, and looking at the gun in the male human's hand?
All good questions that could have been pondered on more, if Rosemary hadn't had a strange reflex surge through her body, which caused her to knock the gun out of Hank's hand and into her own.
With wide eyes Rosemary pointed the gun towards Hank and Archie. She backed up a bit. Her eyes flickered towards the door then back again. "Okay... I don't know how that happened. I'm kinda freaking out right now."
"It's fine. Everything is fine Rosemary. You are in control now. And once I get through this firewall, help will be here. Then these guys won't be able to bother anyone." I spoke evenly. My voice strangely soothing, unlike my normally sarcastic tone.
"Rosemary, Rosemary... don't you find this all a bit strange? Your head injury a little too convenient? How you took that gun from the idiot so easily. Who does that? Not Instagram princesses. I think you need to ask yourself some important questions. Who are you? And what secrets is Cece keeping from you?"
Rosemary's forehead started to bead up with sweat. She looked between the two phones. "What's he talking about Cece?"
"Don't listen to him Rosemary! He will say anything to get what he wants."
