Authors note: in this fanfic you'll be 20 and Kakashi 25.
"My dear it is time for you to choose your husband." Your father demanded angrily as you sat on your chair on the throne. "You are going to be queen someday and you need a king by your side.
You rolled your eyes at how sexist your father was being. "Papa, can't I just oh I don't know. Depend on my own leadership skills and knowledge of the kingdom to be queen?" You asked facetiously.
"(Y/N) you need a king by your side. A king represents the power of the kingdom and the queen is his obedient wife." You got out of your chair and made your way to your room. "Where do you think you're going, we are not done here!"
You sat on your bed frustrated, angry, sad, annoyed truthfully the only emotion you were not feeling was happiness. All you really wanted to do is be a ninja and help people who need you. However according to papa 'I was being ridiculous.'
You got up from your bed and threw your crown on the floor in a rage. You sat down at your dresser and looked at your clenched fists. "Well maybe I don't even want to be the damn queen." You said under your breathe. You hated how you had to give up your freedom for the stupid crown. You laughed at how privillaged you sounded, there were people out there starving and suffering. But here you were complaining about the terrible life of a rich princess. You felt really guilty, maybe it would be best if you just married one of the princes' papa presented to you.
"Princess (Y/N) may I come in?" you frowned at the unknown voice from, behind the door. "It's me, prince Haru. You had been presented many princes' today so you only vaguely remembered Haru.
"What do you want prince Haru?" You asked bluntly, knowing your father sent him to your room to talk to you.
You remembered how nice he was at first... How you felt maybe he wasn't a jerk like the other princes. Oh how you were sadly mistaken. You tried stopping this unwanted flashback as you ate your ramen in your apartment. But to no avail. You felt so betrayed, which is why you came here to the hidden leaf village. At least you finally got your wish and became a ninja. Well you're still just a student at the academy but you would eventually get to jonin.
You looked at your ramen, nauseated. This was the second meal you skipped, you also skipped supper last night and the previous days three meals. It has been a year since the incident but it still affects you, not as badly as it used to though.
"(Y/N)! come on we are gonna be late!" You heard a very familiar voice from behind your front door. You smiled at the thought of the little blond haired boy.
You opened the door and before you could even speak, Naruto drug you by your arm. "We are so late, all because you take forever to get ready in the mornings." Since day one at the academy you were definitely the oldest one there. It was embarrassing at first but you later felt comfortable with everyone. You were so to say the big sister of the group. Naruto however crept deeper into your heart than any of the others. For some reason everyone avoided him like the plague, yes he was a troublesome little boy. But he was also very spirited, enthusiastic and kind.
You arrived just as class was starting.
"Cutting it a bit closer there you two." Iruka sensei stated unamused at your almost tardiness.
"It was (Y/N) sensei! She made me late." You glared at Naruto for selling you out.
"Enough! As you all know today is your final exam, after today if you pass you officially become ninjas." You smiled at the thought of your childhood dream coming true. "Your final test will be to successfully create a clone." You looked over at Naruto worriedly. Ninjutsu wasn't exactly his strongest point. You hoped with all your heart he would pass this test. You knew how important being a ninja was to him.
Your turn eventually came, you were confident you'd pass but that didn't stop you from being a nervous wreck. "Clone jutsu!" You exclaimed. You were very pleased with yourself as you admired your clone.
"Well done (Y/N)." Iruka sensei congratulated you before handning you your headband.
Next up was Naruto, you crossed your fingers and closed your eyes hoping he would pass. "Clone jutsu!" You heard the blond haird boy shouting. You slowly opened your eyes to see that his clone jutus wasn't up to pare. Your heart broke.
After graduation everyone was greeted by their parents showing off their new headbands. You wished you could do the same with yours... but you were more worried about Naruto. You walked over to him sitting on a swing set near the academy. "Naruto I'm so..."
"Forget it (Y/N), just leave me alone." He ran off before you could say anything else. You didn't run after him, you knew he needed time on his own.
As you watched him disappear into the distance you felt a presence watching you. You looked around to see if anyone was watching you. You couldn't see anyone staring at you but you couldn't shake the feeling.
You walked home hoping it was just your imagination.
As soon as you arrived to your front door you knew for sure someone was following you. You turned with your back to the door and scanned the area. "Show yourself!" You tried hiding the fact that you were a little frightened. You felt you were very convincing.
"You scanned everywhere except the roof. The most obvious place." You looked up to see a ninja with spikey grey hair and a mask covering half of his face. He jumped down in front of you.
He was a leaf village ninja just like you so you weren't too worried about him wanting to hurt you. But still... you felt it was better to keep your guard up. Especially around men.
"What do you want?" you asked calmly but still holding the kunai in your hand. He sat on the railing with his leg crossed and his arms folded. He seemed very relaxed for a guy with a weapon pointed in his direction.
"I saw you at the graduation earlier today. A little too old to only now become a genin isn't it?"
You looked at him irritated. "So you followed me all the way to my apartment just to tell me that. You need to get your priorities straight."
He chuckled at your sarcastic remark before replying. "I suppose I do. See you tomorrow." Before you could say anything back he leaped off the balcony and disappeared into the night.
What did he mean see you tomorrow? Oh lord please don't tell me I'll have to worry about a stalker now as well. You groaned at the thought as you opened your front door. You made sure to lock it immediately.
You skipped supper tonight as well. You didn't really have an appetite . After you took a nice hot shower you retired to your bed. You decided you'd check up on Naruto in the morning.
