After the two of you finished up the dishes you chatted for a bit before he left. "Next time I'm going take you out, I promise." You smiled before saying your final goodbye.
After you took a nice long shower you laid in bed, not even dare thinking of the possibility that he might like you back. You closed your eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.
The next morning you woke up around 10 am, you let yourself sleep in this morning. The money you made from your mission was more than enough to last you a month and Kakashi said there'd be no training today.
You put on a comfortable baggy grey top and a denim shorts. You tied your hair in a messy bun and draped yourself on your couch. You laid there reading a book you've been meaning to get to for ages but never really having the time for it.
You had been reading for maybe an hour when someone rang your doorbell. You answered to see Kakashi. "Morning, this is a surprise." You said inviting him in.
"A pleasant one I hope." He closed the door behind him. "The reason I'm here is because I got this mission today. It's easy enough to do on my own but I'd really like the company."
"You asked the others to join as well?" You asked before letting yourself get too excited.
"Nope, just you. So what do you say?"
"Well what does this mission entail?" You asked before giving him an answer.
"Just to rid a small village from some bandits. Nothing too challenging. It'll take a day to get there so the mission won't be more than four days."
You had just gotten back from a four week mission, honestly if it were anyone else asking you you would have said no. But because it was Kakashi your smitten self said yes. You liked the idea of a little time together with him. Your crush aside you actually thought he was a really cool guy. Oh who are you fooling you are crushing on this guy so hard and you really just want quality time with him.
"Yes I'll go."
"Okay, get packing I'll wait right here."
"Wait, what? The mission starts now?"
"Yes, to be honest we are a little late."
You quickly ran to your room to pack. You didn't even check to see what you were packing, you just stuffed your bag full of clothes until it was full. And of course your tooth brush and other necessities.
You then wrote a note for Naruto saying you were on a mission in case he came here looking for you. You had no idea how many times a day he would come into your house when you were not around. He did have a spare key so he would often come in and take a few groceries. Mostly he took your ramen and sweets. Not that you minded, you bought those things for him in any case.
"So where is this village?" You asked while the two of you were walking through the forest.
"Close to the land of waves."
"Well why not ask one of those ninjas to help out?" You asked.
"I don't know."
The two of you walked in silence or at least you think you did. Kakashi may have said something to you but you were too deep in thought to notice. You couldn't stop thinking about last night. The way he held you so close. His eyes staring directly into your hopeless ones. "Dang it (Y/N)! It's never going to happen!" You just realized you said that out loud. You quickly covered your mouth hoping somehow Kakashi didn't hear it.
"What's never going to happen (Y/N)?"
"I uhm... A solar eclipse in my life time. Yeah it's never gonna happen and I'm pretty upset about that." He raised an eye brow at your response.
