Back at school, most of them returned after Lola and Bella went home. Tyler has to stay in the hospital.
Jessica looks at Angela: 'Will you let me know what you did during Biology: 'I'm bringing Lola and Bella their homework after school.' Not that she needs it, but this way, she can check on her friend and see how the sisters are doing. She could help them with something if they needed it.
'Oh yeah, that's a good idea. They'll appreciate it.' Angela sees that Mike is waiting for her: 'I'm going to be late.' She tells Jessica.
Jessica nods slowly. They're all late. All lessons began ten minutes ago.
Volleyball feels weird without her partner. Jessica teams up with Mike, which works out fine. It's not Lola, but it's ok. 'And is this any better?' She asks Mike, laughing. She doesn't know why she asks because she knows what it sounds like.
He looks confused: 'Then what?'
'You know, being hit?' She knows he doesn't get her stupid joke: 'And winning. We are winning.' She serves the volleyball and sees that he gives her an annoyed look. She only told the truth; even joking about Bella's clumsiness isn't allowed. She doesn't like this at all. This is how she is when nervous. Lola would get it, and maybe Angela.
Jessica waits in her car. She is texting and still a little annoyed about how Mike reacted. This whole situation is strange. She has most of Lola's and Bella's homework and wonders how they're doing.
'Hey.'
Jessica looks up and sees it's Angela: 'Did you get it?'
Angela nods: 'We didn't do much.' Handing over a few pages: 'The last two are homework.' Jessica puts them away: 'Ask her how Bella is doing? And if there is anything, we can do to help.'
'Of course.' Jessica snaps. Did Angela really think that of her? She may not like the girl, but it's her best friends' sister. She believes herself to be caring for her friends.
'I'm sorry.' Angela says: 'I know you're taking Bella's homework and that you would ask how she is doing without me asking, but I wanted to ask myself.'
'I'm not angry. I'm sorry I snapped. I'll tell them you asked and let you know how they are.' Jessica replies. She isn't sure if Angela would get her stupid joke, but at least her friend understands that she means well.
Angela puts her hands in her pockets: 'Thank you.'
Sam sees Emily in the woods. He knows it's not wise to go and talk to her, but he is already walking towards her. His feet seem to have a life of their own. She sees him when she turns around and looks annoyed. It's suspicious, for sure. For him, she is everywhere. It's not that he has been following her. It's that she keeps showing up wherever he goes. She never talks to him.
He did try to talk to Leah. He called her, but she didn't answer. He went to her house. He walked into her street but realised he didn't know what to say.
He goes after Emily: 'Wait.'
She stops: 'Why are you following me?' She is angry.
'I'm not, and I'm sorry.' He says resolutely. She glares at him. 'I can explain it. At least I can try to. Will you listen?'
She nods, hesitant, but she stays.
'This going to sound strange.' He starts. He decided to just say it. She wouldn't listen long. Maybe she thinks about it and looks at the legends. 'I'm a wolf.' He says: 'A shifter.' She turns again: 'I know how it sounds, but it's just like the legends.' She keeps walking, and he takes her arm: 'Just come back when you realise It's true.' He releases his grip and lets her go.
