Jessica had been picked up by Mike, and Angela got picked up as well. She asked Ben and was very proud that she asked him herself.
Lola looks in the mirror. Jessica kept her make-up simple, with a colourless lip gloss, light blush and dark rose eyeshadow. Her hair is put up with white pins in a loose updo. She put on her dress, and now she puts on the neckless and some elegant silver earrings. When it is time to go, she slips on her shoes.
She walks towards her car and sees Edward arrive. She gives him a smile and drives off. She is very nervous, but when she sees Jonah, it changes. He looks good in his suit, terrific.
On the way to school, they talk like they always do, but things change when they arrive at the dance.
Before she gets out of the car, she changes her shoes. The heels were impossible to drive with. When she walks towards him, she sees him looking at her.
She looks at him tilting her head. He smiles, but it's not carefree, more forced. She wants it to be honest for her. 'Are you ok?'
'Yes.' He answers: 'Do you want to go inside.' She nods, and he holds out his arm, which she takes. 'Where is your sister?'
'She should be inside.' She says and glances at him.
Inside everything is decorated. There is a table with drinks and snacks. People are dancing to the music coming from a DJ table. He asks her to dance, and she agrees. A slow song starts, and she looks at him when he holds her closer. 'I didn't know you could dance.' She says: 'I'm impressed.'
'I'm happy to be able to impress you.' He smiles at her.
She feels how hot his hand is: 'Are you sure you're ok?'
'Yeah, I am fine.'
'You feel like you have a fever, Jonah. Do you want something to drink?' She stops dancing and takes him to the table with the drinks. She sees he wants to say everything is ok, but she knows something is happening. She gives him a drink. When he is finished, she walks towards the exit: 'I will take you home, and do not try to say you're feeling fine.'
Jessica stands with Mike at the side: 'Where is Lola?'
'I don't know.' He answers: 'I saw her earlier, with...you know.'
'Jonah.' Jessica says: 'His name is Jonah. They couldn't have gone home already. She looked forward to this, the dancing and the ... it's our dance.'
'That you should enjoy yourself.'
'Thank you, Angela.' Mike says.
Jessica looks at her side and sees Angela and Ben: 'You look amazing together, and Angela, you're right. Are you going to ask me to dance, Mike?'
'Yes.' He says and sets his drink away: 'Will you dance with me.'
'Happily.' Jessica answers and smiles. This is how she pictured this.
At home, Lola immediately changes into something more comfortable. She did everything she could think of, dropped him off and called Sam. She even texted Jared to tell him that it was going to happen. Now, she sits on her bed and takes the book she had bought earlier. She starts to read it to distract herself. She knew it would happen sooner or later, but now the moment is there, she avoids it. It's the only way to cope. If he hates her, it's his choice, but he'll make one when she sees him next.
When she wakes up, it is because of that pain. She feels this weird sensation that can only mean one thing, the transformation happened.
