Lola sits at her desk, working on an essay. Jonah sits on her bed; he looks out the window.
She glances at him and then deletes the same sentence again.
'And?' He asks.
'I am getting there, almost done.'
He turns his head: 'Yes, I only see you erase everything you type.'
She looks at him and throws a small pillow at him. He catches it and laughs. 'Can I help you?' He says and stands behind her: 'So, what is it about ... It's in Spanish.'
'Yes, I have to write a short story. And it isn't going very well.'
'Do you have a subject?' He asks.
'I thought something with a penguin.' She tilts her head backwards to look at him when he laughs.
'That is a start.' He says, their eyes locked for a second before he looks away: 'I have to go.'
'Ok.' She stands up and goes towards the door before she opens it. She turns around. She wants to ask if everything is ok.
She turns around and looks straight at him. He takes her arm and pulls her closer, one hand on her back. He stops when his lips almost touch hers. She looks from his eyes to his mouth and back. She leans closer, letting him know she wants the same. He kisses her. She looks back at him when he lets go and then kisses him. Her hands are on his shoulders, pulling him even closer.
Almost an hour later, Lola runs down the stairs: 'Bella, is that you?'
'I am in the kitchen.' Bella.
'Oh, hey Edward. Bella, what's for dinner?' Lola looks at them both.
'Leftover lasagna, wait, I'll give you a plate.'
Lola sits opposite Edward: 'How are the rest of the Cullens doing?' Lola asks him.
'They're good. Alice said she would need to go shopping with both of you.'
Bella sighs, and Lola looks at her: 'Shopping is not bad; you just have to go along with what they say.'
'You have some experience?' Bella asks her sister.
'I guess shopping with Alice is almost the same as with Jessica.' She answers.
'You can be right; Alice loves shopping.' Edward says: 'Your father is home; can he know I am here?'
'Maybe not yet.' Bella answers. He nods and leaves immediately.
'Good morning, Bella, Edward.' Lola says when she sees them sitting at the table. She takes the cereal and a bowl and starts eating. She notices her sister is still looking at her: 'Is something wrong, Bella?'
'No, nothing wrong? What are you doing today?' Bella asks.
'Mike asked me to help in the store. Do you two have plans?'
'Edward wants me to meet his family.'
'Oh, amazing. That sounds stressful.' Lola tells her sister: 'No offence Edward, you have an amazing and nice family, but it always is.'
'She gets it.' Bella says.
Edward grins: 'I'm not changing my mind this time.'
Bella nods.
Lola arrives back just before Bella and Edward. She sees Edwards's car but also Billy, Jacob and Jonah. 'Let Bella handle this one.' She thinks, and she knows Edward listens.
Lola gets out of the car and goes towards their visitors. 'Hey, I hope you haven't been standing here for long, she says while opening the door. Bella walks through the door when a car stops at the house. Bella and Lola walk back from the door; she stands next to Jonah, who automatically puts an arm around her middle.
Charlie greets everyone: 'What brings you here?'
'The game Charlie, our tv is broken', Billy says.
'Let's get inside then', Charlie says, and everyone follows Bella. But before they go inside, Charlie pulls Lola aside: 'So you and Jonah... Do I need to have a word with him?'
'No, Dad, don't!'
'Ok, ok, he says: 'I'll trust you, I suppose.' He shrugs and walks into the living room, immediately reaching for the tv-remote.
She follows him and sees Jonah waiting for her.
'Did he ask...' He whispers.
She nods:' Come, let's go and help Bella with the cooking, she interrupts him. She takes his hand and pulls him behind her.
Bella talks with Jacob, who looks up when the two come in. 'We're here to help', Lola exclaims.
Bella grins: 'With help, you mean that you'll look at me while I'm doing the work.'
'That's the idea', Lola says, and Jacob and Jonah start laughing. She gives Jonah a little punch, he stops laughing but he grins at her.
Soon, dinner is ready, Lola sets the table, so it's time to eat. Everyone seems to love her sister's pasta. There is not much talking, and when they're done, the game starts.
'You can watch', Bella says: 'Lola will help me with the dishes.'
Lola wants to complain. Bella gives her a look: 'I'll help.' she gives in. She takes a towel: 'So what do you want to know?'
'How do you know?'
'I'm your sister. I know you.' Lola says, leaning against a counter.
'So, you're together now. I still can't believe you told Angela but no one else.' Bella says, putting soap in the sink.
'I would have told you, and you know if I told Jessica, then everyone would know.'
Lola feels strong arms around her: 'So you're talking about me with your friends.'
'Maybe', she says, while she lays her hands over his: 'What brings you back to the kitchen?'
'I came to help', he says while releasing Lola.
Bella walks away: 'You two can do the dishes together.'
Lola takes the towel: 'I do the drying.'
'If that's what you want.' he says. He pulls up his sleeves and cleans the glasses, plates, and so on...
They have fun, and Lola dries the last item not much later and puts it away. Jonah grabs her, getting soap all over her. 'So, I think we're almost done.' he breathes in her face.
'I think so too.' she pulls his face closer and kisses him.
'hum-hum.'
'It's just Jacob.' Jonah says while letting go of her.
'We are going home. We leave in five minutes.' Jacob says before leaving through the door.
Jonah leans in and kisses her head: 'Will I see you tomorrow?'
'Yes, I'll see you at Sam's and Emily's after school.'
When Jonah leaves, Bella walks in: 'You still have to tell me how it was meeting Edward's family.'
'It was ok.' She says: 'Everyone was friendly, only Rosalie doesn't like me.'
