Chapter 1: Need Rest

[I am dedicating this story to my favorite niece and nephew, Emily and Ben Aaron. They are special to me, even the title of this story, 'The New Jedi Knights,' is in their honor. Emily and Ben, may the Force be with you.]

Saving Earth from the Death Star's shadow left Sam and Brandon drained. All they desired was a respite, a chance to unwind from the constant tension. Thankfully, someone recognized their need. They weren't just encouraged to take a vacation; they were ordered to. Time to decompress and savor the hard-won peace.

Stargate Command, once a hidden facility nestled within Cheyenne Mountain, now stands as a sprawling complex on the outskirts of the Arizona Desert. The once-mysterious Stargate, now a symbol of galactic exploration, remains the centerpiece of this vast installation.

The complex is a blend of modern architecture and military functionality. Several office buildings, housing the administrative and scientific wings of the command, dot the landscape. However, the majority of the facility exists outdoors, reflecting its purpose as a hub for interstellar travel. Hangars, maintenance bays, and research labs are spread across the expansive desert terrain.

Adjacent to Stargate Command lies a bustling airport, a testament to the increased traffic of both personnel and cargo. The airport serves as a vital transportation link, connecting the base to the wider world and facilitating the movement of supplies and personnel between Earth and other planets.

The presence of both Rebel Alliance and Air Force personnel highlights the collaborative nature of Stargate Command. The Rebel Alliance, with its extensive experience in space travel and alien encounters, brings invaluable expertise to the operation of the Stargate. The Air Force, on the other hand, provides the logistical and military support necessary to maintain the security and functionality of the facility.

The integration of these two forces creates a unique dynamic within Stargate Command, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose. Together, they work to explore the vastness of the galaxy, protect Earth from potential threats, and forge diplomatic relations with alien civilizations.

The remnants of a raucous celebration spilled out onto the office building's courtyard. The lingering party atmosphere was a testament to the extended revelry following their hard-earned victory and newfound freedom. Every moment of indulgence was well-deserved. After all, every individual on Earth had contributed tirelessly to the establishment of the new base, a monumental undertaking that pushed both Jedi and SGC personnel to their limits. This celebration was a much-needed reward for their collective efforts.

Jack protested,
"Every time we do something like this, we end up having to
save the planet once more. We should get back to the same
routine, whatever that is for a Jedi."

This time, Samantha got upset with his protesting.
She sternly said to him,
"Jack, if we don't take a vacation, I will turn to the
Dark-side just to kick your ass!"

He looked like he got his feelings hurt and replied,
"Since you put it that way, we'll go."

Fury pulsed through her. With a flick of her wrist and a surge of the Force, the entire cooler, not far from them, erupted. A torrent of ice-cold water engulfed him, leaving him dripping and sputtering.

General Hammond smiled,
"If only you could use the Force when
I was in command of the SGC."

Everyone there laughed.

Jack commented with a smile,
"I surrender. We'll go on a vacation."

She smiled,
"We'll first take Jerry and Barbara to Yavin 4. Since Jerry
is retired from teaching, they said they wanted to live there
for the rest of their lives. I also want to stay there in that
galaxy for several days. I want to confront my past there once
and for all. I'll be able to be here on Earth in the way I should."
