Dianne's POV
I sigh, looking up at the bare ceiling above me. Why do I have to be here? I mean, I could've stayed. If my family had really tried, I could've stayed. I guess I don't mean that much to them.
I close my eyes and try to get to sleep, but I just can't. I toss and turn but no matter what I do nothing seems to be working. Eventually I give up and go to go on my phone but realise it's dead. How? I only charged it an hour or so ago. I guess that's what happens when you have a crappy phone. But I don't see why I can't have a new one, if we have the money to spend on my brothers. I guess it's obvious who my parents' favourite children are.
I just give up with getting to sleep and just lie there, thinking things through.
-TIME SKIP-
I wake up early in the morning. First day of school. It's not just the first day of school after the summer. For me, it's my first day of school in the country. I get up and put on my second-hand school uniform. Again, I really don't see why we can't afford first-hand. And again, it's clear who my parents' don't favour.
I don't look too shabby, to be fair. Well, I guess we'll see at school how I fair. I grab my make-up bag and put it all on. I want to cover up how terrible I look. After I while, I look alright, but nowhere near as good as I bet everyone at this school will be.
I head downstairs and see a note from my mum.
Had to head off. Have a good first day x
It's not great when you have a workaholic mother. She couldn't even stay to see me off.
I get myself some breakfast and just watch TV for a bit before I head off to school and get on the bus. I find a seat by myself, and in front of me there's a group of boys, who keep on shouting and drawing the attention from everyone else. I just keep to myself. I'm the exact opposite of the boys. I hate it when all the attention is on me.
I can tell that today will be a long day.
Joe's POV
I arrive at school with Josh, Conor and Jack and we head off to meet the other buttercreams. Mikey, Oli and Byron are already there, and as usual, Caspar is late.
"No prizes for guessing where Caspar is," Byron says.
"Hmm, that's hard," I joke. As we're talking, I notice a redhead, who looks about our age, walking beside us by herself.
"That must be a new girl," I say.
"Who?" Oli says.
"That girl," I tell them, looking over at her.
"Well are you going to talk to her?" Conor says, who is trying to steal something from his brother's backpack. I raise my eyebrows, laughing.
"What do you think?" I tease. The boys laugh. The bell rings just as Caspar heads over to us.
"Goodbye," Jack smiles, and Caspar sighs.
"One day you'll learn to be on time," Josh says.
"Yeah, when hell freezes over," Caspar replies, and I head off to my form group, my mind drifting over to a certain girl with red hair.
A/N: So this is the first part of my new fanfic. It's when Joe and Dianne are fifteen, so a bit different. Let me know any thoughts and if you liked the first part.
