Joe's POV
When I went downstairs in the morning, which I thought was already pretty early, I saw to my surprise a certain redhead sitting down at the table, and my sister at the hob.
"Woah, you're up early," I say to them both.
"Good morning to you too," Dianne quips.
"Oh, yeah, morning beautiful," I reply, kissing her forehead gently and heading over to Zoe to see what she's cooking. I then have to quickly step back as she's about to flip the pancake she's making, which then nearly lands on my head.
"Oops, sorry Joe," Zoe says. "I caught it though."
She puts the saucepan back down on the hob and takes out the massive jar of Nutella mum thinks she's hidden from us, but which we use all the time. When the pancake is ready Zoe puts it on the plate and spoons Nutella all over it.
"One pancake for you," Zoe says, putting it down on the table in front of Dianne. It's sweet to see how much my family cares for and likes Dianne.
"Aw, thanks Zo," Dianne says, picking up the knife and fork and practically stabbing the pancake.
"Don't want to get on the wrong side of you then!" I laugh.
"Of course not!" Dianne jokes, Nutella dripping out of the pancake as she picks it up. Zoe makes herself one, then makes me one too after I force her. Sibling love at its finest.
"Morning!" Andrew says coming into the room. "Ah, pancakes!"
"We've saved you some mix," Zoe says, and she makes Andrew a pancake before finishing her own.
"I bet today at school is going to go so slowly," Dianne says. "I just want to put on my new dancing shoes and take the floor!"
"And we have a science exam today," I point out.
"Oh crap," Dianne says. "Were we meant to revise?"
"Yep," I say. "But I haven't either. We can fail together."
"You're a bad influence Joseph," Zoe says, but also smirking at the same time.
We all get ready for school and we say goodbye to Andrew as we head down to the bus stop. I hold Dianne's hand as the excitement radiates through her, and she's buzzing as she gets onto the bus. I can see why she's so excited though. Dancing is her dream, and her brother has had the opportunity whereas she hasn't. But finally, this is her chance to shine.
"I know you're going to be incredible later," I say as we sit down with Byron and Oli.
"Joe's told me all about how you want to dance," Oli says. "I just know you're going to rock it out there on the dance floor."
Dianne beams.
"Aw, thank you," she says. "I'm just so, so excited. I've been waiting for this moment my entire life."
We arrive at school and when the bell goes we all depart for our separate places. Then we head over to our science exam, but all I can think about is how happy Dianne is going to be later, and she deserves to be that happy.
"Time's up!" our teacher announces, and I shut the exam and push it as far away from me as possible. I wait for Dianne before we head over to English, and despite the two of us probably having just failed our mock exam, Dianne is still beaming immensely.
"You aren't going to need science anyway if you're going to be a dancer," Caspar points out.
"And what about me?" I laugh.
"You can tag along with Di," Mikey says.
Dianne's POV
Every minute seems to last a year, and it feels like the day will never end. But when the bell finally goes after last period, I practically jump out of my seat and haul my bag on, and I'm like a child at Christmas as I catch up with Joe.
"I can't believe it's finally happening," I comment. "After all this time, it's finally my turn."
"You deserve it gorgeous," Joe says, kissing my red hair. We get on the bus with Byron and Oli and sit right at the back as usual.
The bus feels like it's going at a snails pace before we finally arrive at our stop and we can get off and walk back to Joe's. I get changed as quick as I can, and then we're back in the car and heading off. Tracey, Zoe, Andrew and Joe have insisted that they are all coming with me, and will just get a coffee whilst I'm dancing.
"Have a great time," Andrew says. "It's finally your moment to shine."
I feel the biggest grin spreading all over my face as I hug my brother and thank him. Andrew has always been supportive of me, and it's going to be sad when he returns to Australia.
Zoe and Tracey wish me luck and then Joe pulls me in for the biggest hug.
"I love you, and I know that you will be incredible," Joe says, and my cheeks go as red as my hair. "Now go in there and show everyone what you've got."
Zoe's POV
Seeing the way that Joe and Dianne make each other so happy just makes me so proud of my little brother for finding someone so special. They're the perfect pair, and although some may say that you can't fall in love at such a young age, Joe and Dianne have proved that you can.
Me, Joe, Mum and Andrew are sat in a little coffee shop just off the corner to where Dianne is dancing. She deserves to have this opportunity, as I know back in Australia things never worked out for her.
"Why couldn't Dianne dance before?" I inquire to Andrew. "I mean back in Australia."
"Our dad always favoured me and Brendan because we're boys," Andrew sighs. "Ridiculous, I know. And our mum was so focused on her work that she never gave a damn about everyone else. Then I got the opportunity to go to this dance school in Canberra, and Mum got a new work opportunity here. Dad said that he'd take me to Canberra, and Brendan too, but I convinced Dianne that coming here would be best for her. She could escape our dad's favouritism, and finally get the chances she deserves."
I can't believe anybody would do something like that. Deny your daughter opportunities just because she's a girl? That's beyond horrible and disrespectful.
"And now Dianne's here, and she's finally getting the life she deserved back in Australia," Andrew continues. "And I owe it all to you. Our mum gives Dianne the basics but would never pay for something like dance when the money could go towards her company. I just hoped that Dianne would meet people like you, and she has."
"She deserves the best," Joe says. "And we will try our hardest to give her the best."
The rest of the hour goes by quickly, so we decide to head back over to the dance studio. But as we arrive, we spot someone that we would never have thought to be here.
"Mum..." Andrew starts.
A/N: So I haven't updated in a while, but I just haven't had the motivation to write. Here's a new chapter though finally, so sorry for the long wait. Xx
