"Riles. Hello?" I heard Colson call. My eyes fluttered open. Everyone sat around me in a half circle, concerned looks on their faces. Except for Monica. "Sorry, I must've fallen asleep." I muttered. Monica smirked at me, as if she knew something I didn't. My heartbeat quickened as I suddenly remembered my dream.
"I'm not feeling so good. I think I'm just gonna head home." I told everyone, rest a hand on my forehead. They all gave me wary looks. "We just got here!" Callie whined. I rolled my eyes. "Don't worry, Cal. I'm sure Dre would be happy to give you a ride to my house later." I hinted, looking at them both. Callie started to blush.
Colson gave me a hand and helped me up. "You sure you want to leave?" Colson pouted. "Yeah. I'm feeling dizzy. Maybe it's the sun." He nodded before kissing me goodbye. I grinned against his lips.
"How about I walk Riley to her car." Monica said sweetly. She helped me with my towels, walking beside me all the way to the truck. She turned to me when I reached the Rustmobile. "Robby, I don't want us to hate each other." She said to me as she placed my things in the back seat. I raised an eyebrow.
"That doesn't seem possible, considering you can't even get my name right." I spat back. She smiled. "You're too nice. That's your problem. Colson isn't. He's from Cleveland, not some rich, loving family." She hissed venomously, coming closer.
"Well, good luck with stealing him away. He had a chance to get together with you, and he didn't. What does that say?" I shrugged, backing away. She gave me a menacing smile before walking back towards everyone.
I ran a shaky hand through my hair when she was out of eyesight.
I was in trouble.
And it had Monica's name all over it.
I arrived home, gaining a headache. I was thinking too much. Colson would never do anything to harm our relationship. He's different. At least, I hoped he was. I shook my head, trying to erase those thoughts..
Sighing, I got out of the truck. Dad had bought himself another car yesterday. Nothing too glamorous. Just a little Audi to get around in, but a different car was beside it in the driveway. "I'm home!" I called out to no one in particular as I walked in. There, sitting on the couch was Dex. His hair was wet and wore board shorts. He must've just came back from the beach.
"Hey." I said, cutting through the silence. I hadn't talked to him since that night he tried to kiss me. At my birthday party last night, we stayed as far away from each other as possible.
He smiled. "Hey. Can we talk?" He asked. I nodded. "Sure." I dropped my stuff and took a seat next to him. "Quick question. Who let you in?" I asked him, suspicion clear in my voice. He laughed. "Your Mom. She's in her room." He answered.
I started to fidget in my seat. "So..." I started. "Can you forgive me?" He blurted. I laughed, hitting his shoulder. "I was never mad, bro. It was all in your head." I joked. He smiled, giving me a hug. "So are we cool again?" He asked. I nodded halfheartedly. "Yeah."
He raised an eyebrow, knowing something was up. "Are you okay?" He asked. I sighed. "Monica. That's what's wrong." He was confused. "Who's Monica, and why is she your problem?" He questioned. He looked like a caveman, scratching the top of his head in wonder.
