I paced back and forth in front of Daphney and Callie as they processed my story of what had happened the day before. “So?” I questioned, breaking the silence. “Riley, you are overreacting. Sure, it was kind of awkward that you told him, but obviously he didn’t care.” Callie insisted. Daphney grinned. “Hey, you’ll never know. Colson might be the guy that takes your V Card away.” I started to blush uncontrollably.
“You guys suck with advice.” I muttered. Both Daphney and Callie groaned. “Whatever. Are we going to Chili’s or what?” Callie asked. I sighed and grabbed my purse, answering Callie’s question. Callie beat me to the car, while Daphney stayed behind with me.
“He loves you a lot.” Was all she said before climbing into the truck.
We arrived at Chili’s five minutes later. Callie was the first one out of the car, and she already had us a booth by the time Daphney and I made it inside. I can’t say I was surprised. I slid in the seat after Daphney and grabbed one of the menus. “I’m dumping Nathan.” Callie said casually as she flipped through the menu. I raised an eyebrow.
“Why?” I asked her. She shrugged her slender shoulders a raised her menu a little higher. “Long distance relationships aren’t my thing. Besides, Vanessa Miller has been eyeing Nathan since we first started dating. She’s probably with him right now.” Daphney sighed. “Aw, I liked Nathan. He was the only one who had a car and played chaffier without complaining. That’s a real man.” Callista rolled her eyes.
“Dee, I didn’t know you had such a huge crush on Nathan. You can have ‘em.” Daphney blushed. “You know what I meant, Cal. He’s too much of a meathead for me anyway. We all know you love muscled men.” I giggled, agreeing with Daphney. “Guys! I like Dre now!” She whined. As if on cue, a group of guys walked in, hollering and laughing. One stood out in particular to me. His bright blue eyes looked around before finally meeting mine. He grinned as he informed the guys that we were here.
“Speak of the devil,” Daphney muttered. The guys squeezed in beside us. I practically sat in Colson’s lap. “Babe!” He said enthusiastically, kissing me lightly. I couldn’t help but smile at his boyish ways. “We didn’t know you guys would be here.” Dre said. Callie just grinned like an idiot beside him.
“I’ve been thinking about you for hours,” Colson whispered huskily in my ear. His breath tickled my neck. Everyone else around us was deep in conversation. “Oh yeah?” I whispered back. He placed his hand on my thigh, moving it upward slightly. “Yeah.” He answered lust clear in his voice. I smirked, loving the effect I had on him. He intertwined his fingers with mine under the table. I gave him a shy smile.
“Um hello? Lovebirds?” Daphney snapped her fingers in front of my face. “Huh?” I said stupidly. Everyone chuckled around me. “I was asking what you were thinking about ordering.” Daphney explained. I blushed. “Oh, um, I’ll just get a steak. Medium-rare.” I told her. I ignored the questioning stares from both Daphney and Callie and the admiring looks from the guys. “Daaayum.” Slim finally said. I laughed. “A girl’s gotta eat.” I said with a shrug. Colson gave me a lop-sided grin from beside me, squeezing my hand. I could tell he was trying hard not to laugh. He knew about my large appetite. “Riles, I guarantee that steak is going to be bigger than you.” Cal said to me. “Hey!” I said, feigning hurt.
The waitress came by and took our orders, not bothering to hide the flirtatious smiles and winks she kept sending Colson’s way. He ignored her completely, adorning me with kisses. She soon got the hint. “Well done, my friend.” Dre said appreciatively. “Someone’s gotta show you how it’s done.” He bragged, draping an arm over my shoulder. Suddenly, the restaurant’s speakers blared Colson’s song “Stereo”. We all screamed with joy and attracted looks from other tables.
“That’s my nigga Kells’ song on the radio!” Dubo screamed out to everyone, pointing to Colson. Colson jumped on top of our table and started rapping to the song, jumping around like crazy.“Sir!” A waiter hissed as he came over. “I’m going to have to ask you all to leave if you do not get off of the table!” Colson looked down at me. I bat my eyelashes, giving him my best puppy dog face. “I reeeaaally want that steak, Sweetie.” I told him. He laughed and slowly climbed down and fit his long limbs into the space beside me. The waiter rolled his eyes and walked away, muttering to himself. We received a small applause from our audience.
I let out a long, satisfying burp. “Excuse me.” I said. Callie and Daphney were too full to complain for once. We had just finished eating and we could barely speak. They leaned back in the booth, trying to sleep. “This sucks,” Callie groaned. “I just bought myself a pair of size two skinny jeans. Better take them back.” She sighed, placing her head in her hands. “Um, I’ll have you know that I like chubby girls.” Dre reassured her. She grinned at him. I stuck out my tongue, leaning on Colson. “What? Try looking at you two.” Callie snorted. I grabbed Colson’s arm defensively.
“Whatever.” I brushed it off, giving Colson a long kiss. A chorus of “ew’s” followed. We all chipped in on the bill and shuffled to our cars. Colson had his Rent-A-Cycle once again. “Hey Riley, we are going over to that nightclub across the street, Exile. Wanna come?” Daphney asked. I shook my head. “I’m just going to head home. I’m exhausted.” An arm snaked around my waist. “Actually, I was wondering if you wanted to hang with me?” Colson questioned. “As long as we do it at my house.” I said quickly. His eyebrows furrowed together but he didn’t push any further. “Uh okay. I’ll follow you.” He left my side and hopped onto his bike.
I waved goodbye to everyone as they walked across the street and got into my truck. The whole way home, I could see Colson in my rear view mirror. I pulled in the driveway, Colson parking beside me. No one was home. Huh. That was strange.
Unlocking the door, I found a note on the kitchen table. “Mom and I went to grab some coffee. Be back later. –Dad” I read aloud. I heard the door close and I could feel a presence behind me. Colson wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his head in the crook of my neck. He kissed me tenderly. My eyes began to glaze over, but I shook my head, separating from his grasp. “Not tonight.” I said. He rolled his eyes and plopped onto the couch. “Alrighty then.” He muttered. “Be right back.” I called before going to my room and closing the door. I pulled on a pair of sweats and a tank top, tying up my hair. Perfect. He wouldn’t get near me if I was wearing this.
I came out into the living room. Colson was flipping through channels. He looked over before doing a double-take, his eyes wide. I tried to hide my smile from him, avoiding his eyes. “You’re killing me, Riley.” He groaned. I was confused. “What are you talking about?” I sat down next to him. “How can you still look like a Goddess while wearing sweatpants?” He complained. “Although, that tank top is doing wonders.” He admitted. I couldn’t help but laugh. He brushed a stray hair from my face, tucking it behind my ear. He grabbed me and pulled me onto him, so that I was sitting in his lap.
“I wanna talk to you about something,” Colson murmured as we got comfortable. “Hmm?” I turned to him. “Wait a sec. Where has Monica been?” I suddenly wondered. “Beats me. She isn’t named Rilyana, so as far as I’m concerned she isn’t my first priority.” I brushed his lips with mine briefly. “So what were you gonna say?” He stared at the rerun of Family Guy on tv for a second.
“Well, I’m off of recording all next week,” He started. I motioned for him to continue. “and I get Casie.” I smiled at the mention of his daughter. He had shown me pictures of her. She was adorable. “Casie’s coming out here?” I asked him. He nodded. “What I wanted to know was if you wanted to meet her.” He finally looked at me, his eyes hopeful. I pecked his cheek, loving the smell of his aftershave. “I would absolutely love to meet her.” I told him honestly. Before I could say anymore, his mouth was on mine in an instant. I definitely wasn’t complaining. We cuddled for hours, falling asleep on the couch. All I could think about was Casie coming to Malibu.
