Chapter Nine
"ᎡᎾᏔᎡ."

"It's got, uh, Ted Danson and Magnum P.I. and that Jewish actor." Kristoff explained, gently holding the baby in the baby carrier strapped to his chest.

"Shut up, Kristoff." Hiccup spat. They had reached the place where Merida supposedly lived. It was a small apartment building that wasn't exactly up to standards. It did have a pool, but it was a little behind the times and a little worn down. "What room was it again?"

"It's 825." Eugene said. Hiccup was worried about meeting her. What if she was some crazy lunatic?

As they approached the room, they could hear someone talking. "I know, I did. I already checked with her." Suddenly, a girl with bright red curls exited her room. Her blue eyes lit up as she quickly spoke into the phone. "I found him. I'll call you back."

She rushed over to the group. "Thank god, he's with his father." She grinned. She reached into the carrier, pulling the baby out and holding him in her arms. "I was freaking out. I missed you, sweetie." She giggled before she kissed the baby's forehead. She looked over at Hiccup. "And I missed you." She nearly growled. Her mouth then attacked Hiccup's. Eugene and Kristoff glanced at each other as the couple continued making out.

"No." Hiccup mumbled as she pulled away.

She smiled then looked at the group. "What the hell happened to you guys?" She grinned.

"Actually, we were hoping you could tell us." Eugene said.

"What do you mean? I got up this morning, I went to get you guys some coffee and I came back and you were gone." She explained, moving the baby better on her hip. One moment they were passed out in the living room, the next they were gone.

They stared at her, unsure what to say. They crashed at her place?

She leaned forward, arching her eyebrow. "Why are you guys being so quiet?"

"I'm not being quiet." Hiccup hesitantly answered, making her laugh and tilt her head, her long curls pooling to the side.

"You're so cute." She said, grabbing his hand. "Here, I gotta feed Tyler. Come inside, you guys." She smiled, gently pulling Hiccup behind her as the other two followed.

"Did you hear that? Baby's name is Tyler." Kristoff sighed, pausing beside the door.

"Yeah. I thought he looked more like a Carlos too, bud." Eugene said, gently patting Kristoff's back and leading him inside Merida's apartment.

"Okay, what's up? You guys are acting weird." Merida said as she poured a glass of water. She gently held Tyler on her hip, happy to have him back in her care.

"Look, it's Merida, right?" Eugene asked, leaning forward from the couch to see into the kitchen. He was seated between Kristoff, who had made himself at home, and Hiccup who was undoubtedly freaking out on the inside.

"Very funny, Eugene." She replied as she walked back to the living room.

"Right, Merida, uh, ahem, you remember our friend Jack." Eugene said. He knew Kristoff wasn't going to ask her any important questions and Hiccup was still stuck in some paranoid trance. Eugene knew he had to be the one to get to the bottom of things.
