Chapter Sixteen
"ᎢᎪ-ᎠᎪ."

The destroyed car chugged its way through the desert. The sun was now in the sky and they parked just across from the black SUV. They were totally alone. Anything could happen.

"Now what?" Eugene asked. Nobody moved from either car.

"Give him the signal." Kristoff said, leaning forward.

"What signal?" Eugene asked.

"Flash your lights. Let him know it's on."

"What's on?"

"The deal."

"Of course it's on. We just drove 30 miles into the desert. He knows it's on."

"Eugene, just do something." Hiccup said, fear slightly present in his tone. This whole thing was giving him anxiety. What if they refused to give Jack back? What if they killed Jack? What if they killed all of them and they were left to rot in the desert alone?

Eugene glanced at him. He was really getting worked up. "Fine." He agreed, staring that the black SUV. He flashed his lights, like Kristoff had said earlier.

Immediately, people got out of the SUV.

"See?" Kristoff smiled. Good thing he watched a lot of crime shows.

"All right. Let's go." Eugene said, opening his door. Hiccup crawled through the window since his door was smashed in. Kristoff crawled out his window as well, but landed on his face.

Shang laughed, pointing. "Funny fat guy fall on face."

"You okay?" Hiccup asked, gently touching Kristoff once he was on his feet. He brushed off the dirt as Eugene began speaking.

"Alright, we got the money. Eighty grand. Cash."

"Throw it over." Shang demanded, waving his arm. "Then I give you Jack."

"Um, I'm sorry." Hiccup interrupted. There was no way he was taking that chance. "First of all, good morning. And we didn't catch your name last night."

"Mr. Shang. Li Shang." He replied.

"Mr. Shang, it is a pleasure. My name is Hic." He introduced. Eugene shot him a look. What the hell? "And we would very much appreciate an opportunity to see Jack before we give you the money, just to verify that he's okay. If that's-- If that's cool."

"Of course, Hic. That is cool." Shang agreed, taking off his shades. Shang clapped his hands then shouted in a foreign language. Someone opened the car and pulled out Jack. He muffled something and was pushed forward, a bag still on his head.

"Oh, thank God. Okay." Hiccup sighed in relief.

"See, he fine." Shang said. "Now, give me money. Or I shoot him and I shoot all you motherfuckers. And then we take it. Your choice, bitches."

"Give him the money, Hic." Eugene said.

"Okay."
