Safe Together

Happens in the time between RTTE and HTTYD2

Hiccup was in the middle of nowhere. Not a single tree, not a single rock or a single person. It was just all white and foggy around him, he couldn't see very far.

"Hiccup?" a female voice gently whispered.

Hiccup gasped. Where was he? This was scary, very scary. He felt like someone was watching him. How did he even end up here?

"Hiccup?" the female voice said again.

He freaked out. Who was this?

Out in the far, he could barely sense a face, a very familiar face. He began walking closer and closer to the shape, but then it just disappeared.

There was a moment of silence... and then he heard someone laugh very evilly behind him. He quickly turned around and to his huge fright, Astrid stood there in front of a massive, black hole in the white ground.

"Astrid? what are you doing here?" he whispered shocked.

She stood right in the middle of to shadows. They held her tight by the arms on either side of her. Astrid's face was terrified, she was clearly not joyful with this situation.

She just stood there and looked at Hiccup with tears running in streams from her eyes.

"Help!" she gently said, but before Hiccup could do anything, the shadows pushed her harshly down into the massive, black hole and then they disappeared.

"ASTRID NO! NO! NO! NO!" Hiccup cried. He felt torn into pieces. Without hesitation, he ran as fast as he could towards the massive, black hole and jumped right into it in hope to... save... his Astrid.

"Hiccup?"

Hiccup woke up with a big, loud gasp. This... was... just... a dream... NO, it was a nightmare! His eyes quickly tried to get adjusted to the darkness in his room. He took a deep breath and looked around in his dark room.

"Astrid?.. what are you doing here?" he quietly asked, surprised.

Astrid stood right next to him with tears in her eyes. She had run all the way from her room to his room - and in the middle of the night.

"I... had... a... nightmare about you" she cried. "I... just wanted to make sure... you" she stopped to take some deep breaths.

Hiccup gave her a cute smile. "It's alright, it's alright... calm down, calm down" he gently whispered and reached a hand out to touch her waist while lifting the blanket with his other hand.

"Do you wanna sleep here?" he gently asked. He didn't want to tell her about his nightmare.

Astrid nodded sadly. "...yes, please" she whispered.

Hiccup then pulled her by the waist and she went into his bed.

Now there they were, laying together in the middle of the night, sleepy and both shocked. Astrid was laying with her back against Hiccup's bare chest. She felt safe now.

Hiccup had wrapped his arms around her to keep her close. He slowly moved his head closer to her shoulders and began kissing her up and down her neck. Astrid giggled, it tickled when his warm lips touched her cold skin. But she enjoyed it, the long run in the dark to get over here was all worth it.

Time went and the young couple then slowly fell asleep...

The morning came, Terrible Terrors, singing on the rooftops and villagers starting their morning-tasks. It was so peaceful and quiet... just until Stoick woke up.

"BONK... BONK... BONK..." someone knocked on the door. Stoick took his helmet and went over to see who it was. When he opened the door, Helga stood there. Her arms were crossed and she had a concerned look in her eyes.

"Hi, Helga, what brings ya here this early?" Stoick asked gently. He looked at the very impatient Helga with a worried look.

"Astrid is gone" she whispered concerned  "And ah was just thinking that it may have something to do with Hiccup, so ah just wanted to check if she was here?" she continued.

Stoick lifted an eyebrow in confusion. "Well come in then," he said.

Helga smiled and went inside. There was very quiet in the hut, only the squeaking from the boards beneath them, and the snoring from Toothless was noticeable.

They both went up the stairs and Stoick carefully opened the door to Hiccup's room.

There were also very quiet in here. Stoick and Helga went in and to their big surprise, the young couple lied there tangled up in each other. They were safe and secure.

The two older Vikings didn't say anything... they just stood and gazed right at them with open jaws. They didn't expect to see that...

"Maybe we should let them rest out?" Helga gently whispered. Stoick nodded, he didn't want to ruin their happy moment either.

They left the room carefully, trying not to make any loud noises and Stoick closed the door behind them as they went down the stairs.

Two hours later Hiccup woke up, he had dreamed sweet dreams about him and Astrid all night long. One of his arms were underneath Astrid's shoulder while the other one rested across her chest. He wasn't sure if Astrid was okay with his arm touching that area, so he thought of removing it slowly.

He tried to lift his arm but Astrid held it tight in place with her own hands. He was a little surprised.

"Stay..." Astrid suddenly whispered. She was now awake. She turned around and gave Hiccup her sleepy gaze.

"Have do you feel?" Hiccup asked. He could clearly remember how her face was covered in tears last night. He had never seen her like that before.

Astrid turned once more and was now on top of Hiccup. Her elbows were resting on either side of him. Her gaze became sad, she rested her head down at his bare chest and shed a tear.

"I am sorry for interrupting your sleep... I... was..." she apologized sniveling, but before she could finish her sentence, Hiccup had swung his arms around her body once again. He hugged her tight. He could feel the heat from Astrid running through his body.

"YOU are ALWAYS welcome in my bed" he laughed and moved his hand around in circles on Astrid's back, trying to calm her down again.

Astrid was so relieved, her whole body felt safe in the arms of Hiccup. It was so... so... wonderful.

She raised her head and gave Hiccup a gentle kiss on the lips. Hiccup kissed her back and hugged her tight once again.

They then pulled apart, creating a little, soft "pop".

Hiccup gave Astrid his famous cute smile and raised his head to reach Astrid's. He then started to french-kiss her. This was deeply his love for her.

They were so in-love. They just went on making-out for a few minutes until Helga suddenly shouted; "Aaaastrid, ah know you're up... we have to get to work soon".

"She's right, I have to go," Astrid said unhappily, she didn't want to leave him now, but she had to. She went out of bed and took a look through the window.

Hiccup sat up, he was going to put on a tunic and then take Toothless on his daily flight, but first, he stretched himself.

"Aaaastrid" Helga shouted again, this time sounding very impatient.

Astrid looked at Hiccup. "See you later, Babe," she said and went out the door from his bedroom. "Commin'" she shouted back and went down the stairs in a hurry.
