Summary: Everyone on Berk is busy celebrating a big 45-years anniversary. Hiccup and Astrid were having a conversation, and right before Astrid could ask Hiccup out, she got interrupted by Ruff and Tuff. When she finally finished explaining to them about the things they didn't understand, Hiccup was suddenly gone from the party. Now Astrid was wondering where he went, and why he just went. She then went to ask her parents for permission to go find him...
Astrid went off as soon as she got the "go" and then she headed down to the forge in a hurry, in the hope to find her beloved Hiccup. She quickly got the forge and could hear someone fumbling around in there.
She went to the entrance door and gently called out "Hiccup? are you in here?
Hiccup gasped, quickly took his masterpiece and put it back down in the cloth bag. "Yes, coming, Astrid" he answered and went over to the entrance.
And there she stood, hands behind her back and smiling just as sweet as her heart. Her eyes were relaxed and beautiful even though she seemed to be a little out of breath.
"So... tell me what you are doing" Astrid laughed. Now she couldn't wait any longer, he was looking like someone who tried to hide something. What was it? She wondered.
"Eh... it's... eh... it's just some tail upgrades for Toothless" Hiccup said. He didn't want to tell her right now... it had to be just perfect.
"But may I ask what you were trying to say earlier? before you got interrupted" Hiccup quickly asked to get the attention away from his project.
Astrid blushed, she wasn't expecting that one to come.
"I was... I was just thinking that... maybe you and I could take a little walk?" she said with a shy voice. "If you can take yourself away from this 'secret project'" Astrid laughed, she really wanted to take a walk down to the shore with him.
Hiccup's eyes widened, that would be the perfect moment to give Astrid his masterpiece, that he had been working on for weeks.
"Well, that sounds like a lovely idea," he said and took off his apron. He then went out of the forge and took Astrid's hand as they both went towards the forest.
...
Our young couple went through the forest and talked about their feelings. They were all alone, not a single thing to disturb this romantic moment. Hiccup and Astrid just enjoyed their alone time, away from all the stressing days with people to help, papers to read, houses to clean and to have the twins under control. It was so relieving.
Soon they came to the end of the forest, where the trees slowly began to disappear and instead making the shore ahead visible for them. It was the most beautiful place on Berk, perfectly located between two big rocks that stopped the heavy wind from blowing your things away. It had a perfect view of the sunsets, sunrises and the beautiful night sky above them. This place was just so peaceful and romantic.
Astrid and Hiccup just sat down in the sand and gazed at the horizon. It was getting late and the sun had just begun to make its way down. This view was indescribable.
There was a moment of just silence, only the calm small waves were making some relaxing sounds...
"May I tell you something?" Hiccup gently asked.
Astrid pulled a strand of hair behind her ear and turned her head to look at Hiccup with a smile.
Hiccup just kept on gazing at the nearly beginning sunset.
"I... have always liked you... you know, always had that feeling of... wanting you. Then my life changed as we got together, I couldn't ask for more, all I wanted was you, You my love!" He began.
Astrid was about to shed a tear from those wonderful words, this was going to be emotional for her.
"As time went, you and I became closer and closer. My love to you is stronger than the wind, deeper than the ocean and bigger than the world" he continued and reached down in the bag on his belt.
"Close your eyes," he calmly said.
"To symbolize my love to you, I crafted you this." He took up a necklace and put it around Astrid's neck. It was a braided cord with a transparent gem attached to it, containing to smaller gems: an emerald and an aquamarine, to symbolize their eye colors.
Astrid smiled and a tear escaped from her closed eyelid, she was touched, deeply touched.
Hiccup closed his eyes and gave her a kiss. Astrid was speechless, this was so poetic and also, she couldn't wait to see what was now hanging down from her neck.
They slowly pulled back as they both opened their eyes. Astrid quickly looked down at her new necklace. Her eyes widened, this was the most - she couldn't even describe it. She was so happy.
She couldn't do anything else than just look back at Hiccup with waterfalls of tears, streaming down her cheeks. She quickly grabbed him and threw them both into the soft sand. She smashed her lips against his. How in the world could she give him in return? She loved him so much!
Hiccup was shocked by the quick action, but he was more than happy that she liked the gift.
And as the sun slowly continued its way down in the horizon, our young couple just lied on the beautiful shore and made-out until the night came...
