Hiccstrid Oneshots - [A Hiccstrid Collection]

Just To Be Sure

Happens right before HTTYD2

Word count: 900+

Summary: The Gang is out shouting for new islands in the archipelago when suddenly they fly pass a new, undiscovered island a little north from Berk. They decided to land and explore the new area.

"WHOA, THIS LOOKS AWESOME" Ruffnut shouted as they all landed on the island.

"LOOK AT THESE ROCKS, SON ÉPICAS!" Tuffnut supplied, holding his hands out in front of him. The twins began to examine the whole island, looking behind every tree, bush, stone, and rock to - hopefully - find something dangerously, epic and cool.

While they were busy doing that, Hiccup sat down by the edge of the rocky formation they were located on and began to draw the island as good as he could.

"I can't believe that we just completely overlooked this island, I mean it's small, yeah, but it is beautiful" Fishlegs said with lots of enthusiasm, taking a good panorama view of the indescribably beautiful valley in front of them.

He then turned around "Come on girl, let's explore this place," he said and went over to his beloved dragon and took a seat, receiving a thumbs-up from Astrid before taking off.

"You know, Hookfang and I are gonna explore too, see ya losers, SNOTLOUT! SNOTLOUT! OY! OY! OY!" Snotlout shouted while taking off as well.

Now back on the rocky formation were only Hiccup and Astrid - and of course with their dragons as well.

"Just a little more... like that... yes... Now, now I'm done" Hiccup said, closed his notebook and stood up.

"Good, now that you are done, what do you say to take a little walk with me down to those flower fields down there?" Astrid asked and pointed at the lemon-yellow spot in the valley.

"May I have the honor M'lady?" Hiccup asked and held out a hand towards Astrid, smiling sweetly at her.

Astrid blushed and took his hand. They held each other's hands and carefully went down from the rocky formation, Toothless and Stormfly innocently playing behind them.

"May I ask you something?" Hiccup asked nervously and looked at Astrid as they walked down to the valley.

"Yes?" She answered a looked back at his beautiful emerald-green eyes with a smile.

"I was just thinking that... eh... since I'm the heir of Berk, the soon-to-be Cheif, you would... eh... I don't know how to say this..." Hiccup gently said. He didn't know how to ask in the right way.

Astrid's face became very curious now. "Yeah?" she said on put a strand of hair behind her ear, still smiling at him.

"I-if-f we... you know... get married someday... you would become... Chieftess..." Hiccup murmured shyly. He didn't want Astrid to misunderstand this.

Astrid giggled and blushed a bit. "So... you are asking me if I'm okay with becoming Chieftess?" she asked, this time smiling even more.

Hiccup nodded and smiled back. He was a little worried about what Astrid would answer. This wasn't meant to be a proposal.

"Well, mister soon-to-be Chief of Berk, to be Chieftess may be a challenging job but there is no such challenge I wouldn't accept," she said, grinning.

That was a little unexpected... Hiccup thought to himself, smiling. He was a little surprised about that answer.

His thoughts quickly got cut off as they approached the lemon-yellow flower fields ahead.

"Wow, look at these flowers!" Astrid exclaimed and went over to the spot. She leaned down and carefully touched one of the beautiful flowers.

She turned her head to Hiccup and gave him a big smile. She waved her hand quickly back and forth to indicate him to come over to her, and Hiccup did so.

"Have you ever seen anything like this before?" Hiccup asked as he touched a flower as well.

"No, but I think I will name them, Lemonlings... just because of their beautiful color," Astrid said with a smirk.

She stood up and began to run into the flower-filled spot, chuckling.

"Hey, wait for me" Hiccup laughed and ran after her. This place was so pretty with all these bright colors.

Hiccup caught up with Astrid fast, he reached his arm out for her shoulder but Astrid quickly made a sharp turn. "You can't catch me" she teased as she now ran in the other direction.

Hiccup giggled. "Challenge accepted," he said with a smirk. He began to run as fast as his prosthetic foot would allow him.

Soon Hiccup caught up with Astrid again, this time reaching both of his arms out in hope to catch her in a big, sweet, lovely, (boy)friend-hug.

"Got ya!" he laughed and swung his arms around her, holding her still. Astrid couldn't stop laughing. This was wonderful.

Astrid turned around so she faced him, looking him deeply in the eyes. "You are faster than I thought" she smirked. She swung her arms around his middle and nuzzled her head in his chest.

Hiccup smiled, "Yeah, I guess the hard training finally paid off" he joked.

He put his hands on Astrid's shoulders and gave her a serious look. "But seriously, you don't have any problem with becoming Chieftess?.. I mean one day you might get the question" he noted nervously. He wanted to make sure she was aware of the outcomes that followed a future with him.

Astrid stopped giggling...

"Hiccup?" She started gently and put her hand on his cheek. "There is nothing, nothing I would rather want to be, than becoming your Chieftess, and when the time comes to decide, I know what to answer," she said, giving him a very lovely smile.

She pulled him in and pressed her lips against his.

And I know exactly which girl I'm going to ask!
