There was a strange warmth on my leg. A wet, but not unpleasant warmth. My eyes opened a crack and I looked down my leg to see white bandages. The splinter had been removed and was also bandaged up. Chang caught my gaze and smiled.
"My spit heals anything. Well, almost. I can't save you from death."
"Thank you," I whispered, my voice cracked. I realised I was laying on Ai's side, his chest gently rising and falling as he slept. I snuggled close to him and fell back to sleep.

"What do you want me to get for you?"
"Umm," Bao was going down to the town to buy some things, "I don't know, just some food I guess. And more bandages. Oh, and a bag I can put my things in and a knife too."
"Why do you want a knife?"
"Self defence." I curled up against Ai's chest and was about to fall asleep when Bao poked me.
"What do you want?"
"Are you sure you're okay? You're sleeping a lot."
"I lost lots of blood. Of course I'm tired."
"Okay. Just... Just watch yourself, okay?"
"Okay." I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

About five minutes later I woke to the sound of scuffling and yelling.
"Ai! Ai!" I hissed in his ear and shook him awake.
"What's wrong?"
"There are guards right outside the cave!"
