Chapter 29-Eggshells

"Eggshells."

"What?" I asked, almost choking from laughing. Sadly, my wounds began to ache as I laughed so I had to silence myself.

"Eggshell. That's what saved you. We fed you some of Crystal's eggshell. Any dragon egg has healing properties, but the Mega's and the healing dragons' are the best at healing. And since we didn't have a healing dragon egg around, we used Crystal's."

"Okay, makes sense."

"And one of the healing dragons spat into your wound."

"What!?" I cried, nearly falling off Ai. Yuan chuckled to herself and hugged Li tightly. She seemed to be closer to him after my speech.

"You don't want it to heal?"

"Yes. But that's just gross."

"Could be worse. We could have not healed you."

"Also true." A moment's pause. "What are we doing with the ones we defeated?"

"That's your choice, Empress."

"I guess... I guess we put them in the cells. And don't give any of them statues. We don't know which of them are Changers."

"Okay." We flew back to the palace. Very slowly.

"I don't like it. I don't like it at all."

"What don't you like?"

"The confinement. I don't want to be stuck in that cramped little palace for the rest of my life. I want freedom. I want what I had."

"You could always go out on trips, I guess."

"Would you be willing to take over when I do?"

"Of course. It'll be fun."

"Fun? Ha! It'll be anything but."

"You've ever ruled?"

"Well, no, but-"

"See? Too quick to judge."

"I wonder what the workers will think when we arrive with Hua in chains."

"They'll think 'Hoorah! Someone has come to replace that vile man!'"

"I can hear you, you know." Hua said, hanging from Char's claws a few dragons behind us.

"Oh yeah, we know." I said, turning to face him. "Brother."

"Brother?"

"I'll explain when we get to the palace. It's a long story."
