First interview: Zakreever
John: "When I suggested there may be someone leaking information to the targets, you quickly accused General. Why is that?"
Zakreever: "Yeah, I suspected him in the heat of the moment, but now I think it's Valeesa. My suspicion of him was my anger getting the better of me, I apologize."
John: "Why do you now suspect Valeesa?"
Zakreever: "I mean, she's married to General. She can get all the info she needs straight from him and leak it out."
John: "Do you have reason to believe she would do this?"
Zakreever: "Not really, but she has the capability to do it. So if anybody is doin' it, it's gotta be her."
John: "Do you think it's more likely that nobody is leaking information, then?"
Zakreever: "That's what I'm hoping for at least. It does seem pretty unlikely anyway."
John: "Is there anything else you'd like to add?"
Zakreever: "I think I've said all that I have to say."
John: "Understood. You are dismissed."Second interview: Valeesa
John: "After Zakreever lost his temper on the Valor Cross mission, you accused him of leaking out information to the targets. Explain your reasons to suspect him."
Valeesa: "Here's my take: He's hated you ever since you showed up, correct? I believe that is because you are the only one able to take out all the targets alone. You're the wrench in his plan."
John: "Can you provide reasons as to why he would leak information?"
Valeesa: "I don't know, it's probably something only he knows. It's his behavior that makes it clear to me that he is very suspicious."
John: "You aren't just saying this because he accused your husband, are you?"
Valeesa: "I'll admit that I got angry when he said that, but when I thought it over it really does add up."
John: "Have you considered the possibility that no one is leaking info?"
Valeesa: "That would be nice, but the Valor Cross mission proves it. How could he have known the stealth team was in his room? It makes no sense at all. The only way he could've known is if he had already been informed. And the most likely suspect is Zakreever. I wish it could be different."
John: "Do you have anything more to add?"
Valeesa: "Yes. I think he might've also ordered the assault team to abandon you in the last mission, but maybe that was their own doing. I'm sure General will give them a good talking-to. It wasn't right, what they did to you."
John: "Thank you. You are dismissed."Third interview: Meezala
John: "You kept quiet when I theorized that there may be a mole in our HQ. Why is that?"
Meezala: "Because I don't think it's true. I've known these people for a long time, there's no way any of them would betray us."
John: "Then what do you think happened with the Valor Cross mission?"
Meezala: "He probably wasn't asleep. He could be the paranoid type, you never know."
John: "That is all baseless speculation."
Meezala: "Yeah, but I firmly believe that there isn't a traitor among us. I guess I might be naive."
John: "I understand. Do you have anything more to add?"
Meezala: "No...I don't think my account was very helpful, sorry."
John: "Don't worry, you are dismissed."Fourth interview: General
John: "Zakreever suggested that you could be leaking out information to the targets. His theory was that you were trying to get rid of the assault and stealth teams to make me look better. What do you think about that?"
General: "His theory sounds adequate, but I don't have motive to destroy our other teams. I simply want them to live the peaceful lives that the civilians here do. Having you as our only soldier will make things safer for everyone. All the previous missions have proved that you're unbeatable."
John: "Do you agree with my belief that there may be a traitor among us?"
General: "I think that it is quite likely."
John: "How does that make you feel?"
General: "Rather upset. But it shouldn't be a problem with you around."
John: "To clarify, you crafted me to make this work easier for everyone, correct?"
General: "Yes. I'm sure even Zakreever will see the merits soon enough and adapt."
John: "How does it make you feel when Zakreever speaks wrongfully of me?"
General: "It makes me feel like he's ungrateful for the work I put into you. And he should realize that you're keeping him and everyone else safer than our teams could."
John: "Do you have a theory on who the traitor could be?"
General: "Most likely Zakreever. We had a lot of bad missions before you. Many deaths among our troops. If he's been sharing information for a while, he is probably angry at you since you can't be stopped. Furthermore, he's the intelligence specialist. He'd have the easiest time providing info to our enemies."
John: "Do you have anything else to add?"
General: "Yes. Remember how he blamed me right when you told us your theory? Why would he blame his commander right away? He's clearly trying to take us all down from within."
John: "Is that all?"
General: "Yes, that's all."
John: "Thank you. You are dismissed."* * *
John thought long and hard for the rest of the night. He wanted to come to the right conclusion. All he had was theories so far. That was a problem. "I think I know what I'll tell them..."
The next morning, the five of them were gathered in the main room of HQ.
"Did you come to a conclusion?" General asked.
"Not exactly..." John answered.
"Then what?" Valeesa asked.
"There is not enough proof for me to fully indict anyone yet. We should continue our missions and see if something comes up. Until then, as far as I'm concerned, none of you are traitors."
"Finally came to your senses I see!" Zakreever said, agitated.
"I think you're right, John." Meezala added. "I don't believe anyone of us is leaking out information."
"Perhaps no-" Before Valeesa could finish her sentence, someone appeared behind her suddenly, grabbed her, and disappeared. Valeesa and the mysterious person were gone.
"What the-!?" General exclaimed. "Did someone just break into dimension 0? Impossible! Zakreever! Research this now!"
"Yes sir!" Zakreever dashed to his desk and searched as efficiently as he could.
"Meezala, what is the latest weapon developed by the support team?"
"We've only made an extra pistol, sir."
"John, would you like to try dual pistol wielding?"
"I can do it, sir."
"Head to the training room immediately! We'll call you once we've found the target."
"Right away, sir." John entered the training room with dual pistols. Something about the guns just felt right to him. During the practice run he displayed incredible skill in dual wielding.
"I think I've got something, General!" Zakreever reported. "A new dimension has just opened up. I think they want us to go after them. It could be a trap."
"Trap or not, there's no way they could take out John. Set the teleporter to the dimension 36,590, the new dimension. John, come back now."
"Understood, General."
"Save Valeesa for us."
